Initially I thought this a Kabinett, since it came across as slightly of dry. Not quite enough energy and drive. Slightly clumsy. Good detail and complexity though. Overall quite good, but not enough so for me to seek out.

Olive golden color. Nose waxy, some florals. Palate lemony, rich with some breadth to the fruit; tastes bone dry; a chill accentuates some acidity. A bit simple for a GG. 89 pts

Leitz is not a name that needs much in the way of introduction, at least as far as Riesling is concerned - the family has winemaking history dating back to 1744, with plenty of experience in the top Rüdeshiem vineyards. Situated in the Western Rheingau, Berg Schlossberg is considered among its most prestigeous for dry wines; at 45% grade it is the steepesh vineyard in the region, producing wines of notible structure and minerality from quartzite and slate soils. The palate on this was an absolute mouthfilling rush of fruit: it danced from lemon, to pineapple, to bruised apple, and back around to delicate stone fruit. That minerality showed through intense stone/chalky character, while white pepper, steel, and dill all made an impression. The wine the wine had notable weight and creaminess to it; acidity is well rounded but nontheless potent, keeping things well balanced and very drinkable. With time, notes of spiced pear, clove, and honey/brioche developed, providing pleasants signs of age. No shortage of years to go on this bottle, certainly, but I was pleasantly surprised by its current state!

Not my favourite vintage but Schlossberg does it again. Pears, flowers, herbs on the nose, perfect balance on the palate. Quite weighty but still vibrant and so alive. Easy to fall in love with.

Honey, flowers and rocks on the nose. Pure, clean, crisp with more prominent acidity than the Roseneck or the Kaisersteinfels. The elements are there for a great future, My favourite of the night but this one needs at least 7-8 years to integrate and develop into something more complex. 92 now, 94p for potential. Laid down a couple to follow.

Drank next to the 2012 Rottland and Kaiserstenfels.
Nose of flowers and citrus. More closed than the Rottland and more citrus, absolutely no tropical notes here. The most linear, narrow, one dimensional of the three.
Palate; Lemons and mineral. Boy this wine is stoney, just a bunch of mineral and lemon.
I thought this was the most approachable of the three, though a couple years will probably do it good. Not showing a lot at the moment - hopefully more complexity to come - but this may always just be a lemon and mineral bomb.

Rieslingfeier (New York): Not at all a fruit-driven wine; on the contrary, steel and very high acid. A long "finish" where by "finish" I mean "the sensation of acidity eating through my enamel." A solid structure-driven wine.

Rieslingfeier Riesling Crawl (New York, NY): I found this to be muted and difficult to taste, although I admit that at this halfway point my palate and brain were becoming fatigued. I couldn't pick out aromas or flavors more specific than general vanilla and citrus tones. On the palate, the wine was medium-bodied and the acidity was well-integrated with the fruit. This didn't particularly strike me—it felt a bit rudderless, especially compared with the Terrassen, but I'd like to revisit it in the future. Not rated.

Day 2 ... Peach and melon showing on the nose ... Bitter lemon lime, minerals, and a green herbalness on the palate.
It's definitely developed more complexity but still pretty closed down. A few years should do this good.
