Zoom smakk Eðalklúbbs #2 (Út um allt eiginlega.): Mjög ljóst. Lyktar eins og hvítvín. Melónur, suðrænir ávextir. Tyggjó. Tutti frutti. Juicy fruit. Á tungu. Mjög mikið krydd. Massíft bragð. Kryddvöndull og sýra. Kælt úti á palli held ég að þetta væri geggjað. Lárviðarlauf. Mikil sýra. Passar með paté? Gervilegt? Betra í shiraz glasi. Tóbak í eftirbragði. Kryddtónarnir breytast líka þegar vínið hefur staðið nokkra stund í glasi. Létt eikað. Virkilega gott og skemmtilegt vín. Verðmiði upp á 19,5€ skemmir samt aðeins fyrir.

First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served blind. Jubey with candy floss notes, whole bunch and whole berry but also a touch of volatility on the nose. Raspberries and strawberries. Alcohol warmth creates the impression that this is almost off dry, similar fruit flavours, no real tannic burr but finishes quite savoury. I guessed Grenache, Australian, Possibly McLaren Vale but made in a very Pinot style.

Looking for grenaches inspired by Rayas (light colour, pinot-like body and red fruit and herb flavours), I decided to try some wines from the Sierra de Gredos area. Ferran Centelles says on JancisRobinson.com: "Gredos wines taste very burgundian, less extracted, more ethereal and lighter than the majority of Spanish Garnachas. The alcohol perception might be high but the wines manage to retain some lightness, generating a unique and recognisable style."
This one really delivered for its price point. Jewel-like colour, seductive nose of cough drops and garrigue, very smooth body with tannins only perceptible on the finish, plenty of sweet fruit but finishes dry. Delicious!

Think this vintage is another great specimen of a modern Spanish Grenache from Dani Landi. There is great ripe fruit profile with super minerality shining through. Really enjoyable. Drank after a bottle of the 2016 vintage, and found the 2017 to be a bit fuller and more concentrated - not sure if a function of age or vintage, will check back in as it develops.

Very light bodied, which surprised me for a Grenache. Notes of pomegranate and baking spices, slightly astringent. I liked it but the other three people we were tasting with didn’t really care for the wine. I thinks it’s fine, interesting, different.

Opens with a beautiful nose of strawberry and bright red cherry/berries. A little tannic, reflecting its youth. Different.
Tightens up as it aerates. Will try to see if I can find some of these that have a touch of age.

Very light color, nose berries and taste very seductive fine notes of pure Garnacha.
