double decanted and opened 2 hours, decent youthful robe, on the plummy fruit, not much layering as yet and little breed, but a good enough drink, will probably go through a dumb phase, upside, 20+ years. At least VG (16).

Nose: ripe cassis, vanilla, sweet maraschino cherry, licorice. Palate: creamy blackberry; quite a bit of oak, grippy tannins, could use a bit more acid, bitter black tea on the finish; on day two, the wine became more integrated, but retained its overall ripe qualities.

Souple et bien fruité. Cerises et bleuets avec des épices et du chocolat. Un touche de cêdre aussi avec des notes d'herbe. Les tannins sont fins et la finale de belle longueur est aussi bien persistante.

Unremarkable. Much prefer a Paulliac to this Margeaux grape. Good bouquet and color. Just dont enjoy the flavor in the mouth. Starts good but then turns bitter and ends with a lingering bitter on the middle of the tongue. Will not intentionally buy this or drink this again.

Pop and pour. Rich, lush and ripe nose, with coco shavings, saddle leather and dusty berry fruits. Very aromatic, and new world driven profile. Palate gives of me Bramble-berry, red current, fern, leathery notes. A heavy wine with density. Needs time to integrate.

Dense velvety palate with cassis, ripe raspberry, plum and vanilla bean. Long finish. Very good under $60. Should improve over the next decade and drinking well now. Not really better after a decant or on day 2. Seems to be made in a slightly oxidative style to give soft and velvety tannin upon opening. Should still do well in the cellar, but could turn quickly.

Château du Tertre, Margaux, 2018: Deep garnet towards royal purple. On the nose, cigar box, ripe forest berries, menthol, freshly brewed coffee and a hint of cocoa. Full-bodied, extracted yet elegant, with a rich and silky texture. The palate displays notes of ripe raspberries and blackberries, graphite, hints of earth, tea leaves, bittersweet cocoa, cigar tobacco and nutmeg. Medium acidity and firm, searing and ripe tannins with notes of tar and dark chocolate on a long and powerful finish. While it doesn't have as much finesse and feminine Margaux character as the 2016 at this early stage, there is undoubtedly lots of potential here but it needs more time to reveal itself. 14.5% Abv. Drink 2030-2040, perhaps longer. 92-93

Earthy, with leafy tobacco, mint, flowers and red currants with spice on the nose, the wine is energetic, sweet and soft, with a polish to the tannins and lift to the fruit. This is the finest vintage du Tertre has ever produced. The wine blends 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 14% Petit Verdot and is the product of very low yields.

This opaque crimson wine was Vinturi-decanted and allowed 4-5 hours in decanter prior to serial tasting. A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 14% Petit Verdot, it offers an array of gorgeous black currant and dark plum fruit, laced with bittersweet chocolate, baking spices, savory herbs and loamy earth. Medium-to-full-bodied and with low-to-medium acidity, it moderates its oak and alcohol (listed as 14.5%), has plentiful sweet tannins, stays impressively dense on the mid-palate and closes with a lengthy, smooth finish. So round and luscious, this is already very drinkable. That said, it has the stuffing to easily reach its twentieth birthday. Drink now-2038.

Tasted next to 2009. Floral notes on the nose, dark berry fruit, spices, earthy notes and tobacco. Quite ripe and upfront on the palate, unobtrusive tannins, good acidity and length. A little linear, but still well balanced and very charming. 91-92+

Au Château Giscours. Pas de notes formelles. En comparaison directe de Giscours 2018, mêmes commentaires s’appliquent que pour les 2015, facilité et rondeur d’un côté, puissance et structure de l’autre.

The wine is bright, focused and fresh. The fruits are succulent, polished and vibrant. The finish is all about the juiciness in the red fruits and silk in the tannins. From a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 14% Petit Verdot, the wine reached 13.8% alcohol. Due to issues with excessive rains and mildew du Tertre lost close to 40% of their crop. The harvest took place September 17 to October 12. 91-93 Pts
