NobleRottersSydney - Yarra Yering (Fix, St James, Sydney): {screwcap, 13.5%} Shiraz 95%, mataro 3%, viognier 1%, marsanne 1%. Marsanne & viognier skins added to the ferment. Very similar wine to the 2018, but with the red fruit reticent, tobacco and apricot flavours to the fore. Medium weight and length of finish, soft powdery tannins.

A wonderfully bright and highly perfumed nose of violets, red fruits and dark cherry. It is deep in the mouth and fleshy, yet by no means heavy. There are savoury undertones and a finish that is long and possessing real crunch.

This is a fantastic Rhone blend. Something that Australia, and the Yarra should feel really proud in having made. Very well poised, great balance, super intense with layers and layers of complexity that go into a long finish - it's a great wine that will only develop further over the next 10 years.

Return to Aus; 6/23/2019-7/5/2019 (Adelaide, South Australia wine regions, Tassie, Yarra, etc.): This was a wine I really liked when I tried it a few years ago and now that we're two winemakers later I still like it. 95% Shiraz, 3% Mataro, 1% Viognier and 1% Marsanne. It's a wine that clearly needs some time to really develop into its drinking window. Right now I get mostly red flowers and red fruits. A touch intense and almost a touch jammy, but there's this balance that holds it together. I think as the fruit has time to soften I will like it quite a bit more.

JH 99. Needs decanting if drunk in 2020/2021. Vibrant colour, cherries and berries. Very complex, great nose, smooth finish. Excellently balanced

Quite reserved at this time but given its pedigree, I expect it will emerge with time.
