This was a weird wine. Upon opening at 48 degrees F, all I got were sour acidity and overbearing pear flavors. (Yes, I keep my white fridge set cold.) It really was not very pleasant. After a decant and warming up, some tart green apple, peach, and lemon notes showed up to the party, along with a restrained touch of oak. Body is medium at most. If I didn’t know where it was from, I could have called this quite underripe. But apparently it’s fairly characteristic of the Gingin clone they use. Didn’t love it.

Light gold color. Medium nose, ripe aromas with vanilla, apple pie and tangerine. Medium body, very lemony, green apple with some oaky flavours. Crisp medium length. Taste was Actually quite different from the nose that had more complexity. Bit disappointed.

This wine is very good and outstanding for under $20. It offers intense lemon and minerals with a hint of white peach and a deft touch of new oak. Waves of flavor, albeit all lean and mean. Classy stuff.

Slo-oxed for 15 minutes, chilled. Better as the wine opened and warmed. Green apple, minerality and a touch of oak on the nose. On the medium bodied palate were the same green apple and minerality, along with some pear and lemon, with increasing oak as the wine warmed, and a vibrant acidity that carries through the finish. Should hold for several years.

Great wine, medium oak, detectable diacetyl. The butter notes were stronger on the 2nd day, highlighted also the 2nd day drinking across from a chablis. This was a nice level though, there but secondary to the fruit. ~ Pineapple and guava and white pear notes. ~ Minerality, River stone, notable salinity. ~ Strong Chardonnay acid profile, slightly puckering sour, dry, grapes likely picked slightly underripe.

Light straw color. A bit of oak on the nose, as well as melon and pears. I could taste the oak when it first hit my tongue, but the oak then disappeared. A bit steely for an oaked Chard, this was quite good, especially for the price. Palate was fruity and rounded out as it took on air.

Friday at the strand (Strand Cellars, Croydon): Toasted oak, struck match, a little leesy yoghurt note and an impression of reductiveness, savoury/sulphury peach fruit and a little citrus. Sourly juicy acidity is medium plus intensity, lemons and green apples, slight texture on the mid palate. Meh.

This Chardonnay was barrel-fermented in mostly used French oak barrels and spent another 9 months in oak for maturation prior to the final blend. It has a medium+ intensity nose of pear, stone fruit, and lime citrus. Oak is mostly a textural element on the medium-full bodied palate with tart citrus, pear, and green apple flavours. Acids are juicy, while the finish length is very good.

Very nice balance of crisp French and creamy California. Bright acidity and crunch, but with some cream and oak later on. Very nice from Wine Access

Grapes and apples. Not especially Chardonnay-like IMHO.

Aromatic, buttered toast and fresh citrus nose. Assertive, fresh and spiced palate; long, pronounced finish.
