Tasted after a 3 hour decant. Color- royal purple. Almost opaque Nose-wet earth. Red fruit. Tobacco Palate-earth and oak. Berries. Good acidity. Pleasant tannins. Pretty easy to drink but I agree with some of the previous reviews in that any fruit on the palate is pretty scarce. That said, it’s not bad with chicken parm and the price was right. 88

I agree fully to comment: "Fruit is not present". Was thinking of a faulty bottle because the wine didn't give itself much. One half was decanted for two hours and the other half drank on the following day, no improvement. The wine should not lose its fruitiness because of age, so I don't know what's wrong with it? Dumb phase? My first and only bottle so there's no refence.

This heavyweight needs air to reveal its finest qualities. Broad, expansive, and rich. Herbaceous and mineral-driven elements at the middle and back. Alcohol shows at the back, typical for wines in this style. A magical pairing with savory and fatty foods. 90-91.

Beautiful wine. In my book this is not a super Tuscan. It is a Sangiovese wine and a good one at that. The red berries, the sweetness of the fruit, the brightness with the dry tannins. A very nice value wine that i will stock up on again.

Very nicely balanced for a Super Tuscan at any price point. Unmistakably Tuscan, in very good ways. Generous throughout, dense but not over extracted, solid oak treatment, long finish. It held together nicely over three days, with no notable change. So many Tuscan offerings at this price point are overdone by comparison. Very good QPR.

Med colour. Intense note of vanilla, sour cherry and strawberry. Dry, high acid, high tannins. Cero perceivable alcohol. Fresh fruit. Med finish. Easy drinker.

Dark colored, shows masculine scents of musk, sandalwood and dried cherries, muscular but just polished enough around the edges to make it accessible now, dark, medium to full body with strong acid, dry, sports flavors of cherry, blue plum, hibiscus and earthy wood, food friendly, classy, drink or hold, a very nice value

A well balance wine, with a great price point. Medium to full bodied, mild tannins. I could taste the black berries, wild blueberries and a hint of smoke. Excellent choice for the cellar or date night at a restaurant.

Quite dark in colour, and it has both dark and red fruit of nice intensity. Good acidity and tannins that are still pretty tight. Also some subtle spice and light wood influence. This is nice, but I was hoping for a tad more. Likely better in a couple years...

I was a bit lost on the nose here – no highly defined aromas & tough to nail down anything. But that garnet color right to the edge reveals that these thin-skinned grapes have not had a lot of age just yet.
The palate blew me away – so much depth & structure here that I just wasn’t expecting from that nose. (I like surprises like that😊) Juicy – great acid & dusty tannin – and thoughtfully produced. This is not something that you can manufacture…it comes from the farming practices. Agree with other tasting notes below.
We drank this young, IMO, by about two years – but I bet it goes 10 years from that. A Super Tuscan with poise!
I cannot believe it! A really nice Italian red wine not taking 15 years for the tannins to soften and the fruit to disappear making it undrinkable. The sangiovese in this wine shines. And not a bad value at $26. I would consider buying again in the future.

Anton’s Wine Tasting Tenuta Sette Ponti Crognolo Winery: Tenuta Sette Ponti Varietal: 90% Sangiovese/ 10% Merlot Area/Appellation: Toscana IGT Vintage: 2017. Price: $40 Color: purple opaque from above brilliant ruby from below Legs: very slow Nose: red berries and briar fruits, Palate: red and black berries seeded red fruits i.e. strawberries, earthy vibrant texture with spices like sandal wood. On night 2 a bit more dark fruit blackberry etc. still a good amount of oak. Finish: After a few minutes open the blackberries and red berries come alive a bit more as does some sandalwood. Finish still fairly tannic with a good amount of oak and little fruit. Comments: fairly young not particularly vibrant but it is trying given the harshness of the vintage with frost damage in April and unrelenting heat in most elevations all over Tuscany. Pairing Suggestions: boars head bianco d’oro italian dry sausage, soft cheese, Score in terms of Vintage: 88 Score for the Wine: 88 Value for the Money: good Date Tasted: ACK Tasted by: 10/24/2020

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, blueberry and black currant (cassis). It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis), oak and vanilla. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Needs some time but drinking well for the style. Tannin and acidity are dominating but not unpleasantly so. Distinctive super T style - I like these wines.

The bottle was open for 4h + 1h in a decanter. Dominant red berry (raspberry and cranberry) with a good amount of cedar and spice. The acidity is quite high and the fruit is still undeveloped. The mouthfeel is pleasant, but it tastes just like oak from the entry to the finish. This is very young and not ready to drink now.

Cranberry aroma's with some fresh cedar wood and an incredible and intense amount of sulfides. Causing me to have so many issues with sneezing and stuffed nose. It took me 10 minutes to get past these aromatics.
All that said the wine is very very young and underdeveloped. Acidic dominance with some mild but present tannin to match. This tells me the wine is youthful and likely to improve. For now it is a good potential wine but NOT ONE TO DRINK NOW.

Clear. Medium ruby.
Clean. Medium intensity with aromas of cedar cherry rosemary plum and cinnamon.
Dry. Medium alcohol. Medium acidity. Medium tannins. Medium body. Medium intensity with flavours of cherry sage and black tea.
Medium finish. Good. Drink now not suitable for further ageing. Angular and lacking depth and complexity. Disappointed.

A wine that shows structure and poise but ultimately is too closed to enjoy today.
Medium+ intensity almandine fading to garnet.
Subtle nose is oak dominant with notes of new jacket leather, a hint of dark chocolate, dust, thyme / oregano and fresh saw-cut cedar.
Palate shows a full-bodied wine with chewy tannins, high acidity and high alcohol. This wine needs time and food.
Flavours of blue fruit and herbs.
Long finish.
Drink 2024-2031

Medium body, dry and high acid, rough and tumble tannins at this point. Finishing hints of tobacco methol and more bright fruits than dark.
