Sour, sherbety, lemon and lime is the first thing I smell, with gooseberry, chalky minerality, and some white flowers. Pretty intense nose. Mega intense explosion of flavour on the palette. Some Sancerre greenness. Massive puckering sourness. Some great savoury bitterness. Serious affair.

Pours an ever so slightly cloudy medium straw. Gooseberry, a hint of lemon verbena, freshly picked white flowers, petrichor - the scent following rainfall - and a touch of lemon curd. Bone-crushing acidity, incredible concentration, persistent length, and exceptional purity. As a side note and compared to the Les Culs de Beaujeu of the same vintage this shows greater typicity and doesn’t have the residual sugar that the Les Culs de Beaujeu does and while that was the more remarkable wine this is still outstanding in its own right.

Show a very nice yeasty tone, pink grape, ripe green apple, sweet flowers and a little heat and bitterness at the end (but not in a disturbing way for me). Long finish!! Yum!

Blind.Faith Season 6. Round two: Blind Pairs - £10 vs £100.
Tasted Blind. Very pale gold. The nose felt quite tight and restrained - there’s citrus and the slightest hint of floral honey, but really didn't open up. Comes alive on the palate, with lots of piercing acidity. It’s powerful and layered with notes of lemon peel and a richer honeyed character. Very long and really intense. Lovely stuff.
Notes on the blind tasting - I have to say I didn’t really have any idea on what this was. The acidity was the stand-out characteristic, but without any of the classic SB markers, I would never have guessed that. I went for a high-quality SA Chenin (Sadie Family) because of the honey and acid, but was not confident that was any way correct - which it wasn’t :-) Fantastic wine, very clearly the £100 wine of the pair.

The nose is floral, with grapefruit, minerals and a slight herbal note. There is refreshing acidity on the palate, with minerality and excellent balance. Lovely.

Francois Cotat tasting 1999-2020 (Utregs Wijnhuis, Utrecht, NL): Tasted next to Les Cul and La Grande Cote 2018 and this showed best. Obviously very, very young, but already lovely, so much going on and so much potential. Richer than de Grande Cote without being ‘fat’; spicy, pear, red apple, melon, a hint of honey. High acidity and a long finish with some RS 92+

Nose was lemon citrus. Palate showed a lot of juicy orchard fruit, with a hint of honey. Don't get much green grassy notes. Well rounded, light weight, with good acidity.

Nice balanced acidity, beautiful pinpoint nose of yeast. It’s grassy with white peach and kiss of soft vanilla. More acid on the finish. Elegant with tons of finesse
the nose is really closed, even after some time in the glass there is nothing more than some minerals present. The mouth however displays minerals and lemons with some grassy notes combined with a beautifull density. The wine really fills the mouth, much more than most other Sancerre's I've had. This is really lovely

Nearly 5 months after the prior: similar, and very pleasant over three nights — but we will hold the remaining bottle, thinking this needs more time. PS: December 2021, sorry — just realized that this was cousin Pascal’s version. So this review, and my prior, is not valid. (Frustratingly nearly identical labels!)

Chez MG: round and rich, without the typical Sauvignon markers, not my preferred vintage for white wines, but good and well made.

A bit flat and neutral. One-dimensional. Lowish acid. No flaws, just not a lot going on.

Double decanted prior to serving into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” into “Flower” day): Pale lemon golden to the eyes.
Minerality driven palate with signature grapefruit notes. Florals.
