Well, it was a curious experiment to drink it with the ‘96; obviously too young, still great, lively, nicely balanced … yet, it is not and it will never be in the same league as the wines like the ‘96; just not enough room for growth.

I feel that I am being generous with my score. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great wine but expectations were quite high. About a one hour decant and it needed about a day. Gift from restaurant owner as thank you. It has intense Australia flavors like many Syrah blends. Would really have liked to take bottle home but felt obligated to enjoy at table. It was second bottle of night and first was big cab of Howell mountain. May have also influenced my take.
Suckling Great Wines of the World. Perhaps it was the fact so many great wines were being tasted but I was underwhelmed by this wine and while young and tight, if tasted blind would not have guessed it was a Grange.

98% Shiraz and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14.5% alcohol.
Really stormy and fabulous aromas with lovely dark plums, cold coffee, exotic spices and sweet wood. Even with the power, the clear details come through. Pretty full-bodied wine with real fruit explosion. Delicious fruit with plums, forest berries, flint, exotic spices, charcoal and well sweet burnt wood. Pure acidity and solid, but typical tannins. A very well made Grange that many collectors will have a craving for. Wine for the next 20-40 years. 97 points.

Vertical from Six Decades Of Grange at Matter of Taste w/ Peter Gago. Having tasting the previous five decades, the current release was a lot of fun to try to extrapolate into the future. I thought the fruit was more full on the '13, so I gave it the edge. But this rating is based on waiting at least 20 years to drink, as at the moment the tannins are pretty potent.

Australian Wine Far from Ordinary Trade Tasting, San Francisco, Tasted 3 times today. Lovely nose of saddle leather, black fruit, licorice and dust, same on the palate, big body, intensely concentrated fruit, large amount of soft tannins, beautiful to sip and think about its future, if you open, decant for 2 days, long finish.

Australian Far From Ordinary Tasting (Chicago Athletic Association - Chicago IL): Walkaround tasting, brief note. This bottle had just been opened and decanted, and was very reductive, making it difficult to fully assess. Still, so much black plum, anise, eucalyptus and root beer. Sensational concentration with coiled energy and massive tannins that already seem softening. Built to last. Excellent potential.

Very perfumed almost to having va? Loads of red fruit.
They run heading boards keeping the skins down under the liquid. They are always in contact with the juice. They are being quite aggressive in this manner. And rack and return.
20 months in american hogshead. Matt schebert was the creator. max or Matt. Press and free run together. Fermentation at least partially in barrel. 75 and 85 % is barossa. I swear it's got va. Can't believe myself though. And magill is always in there as well.
Max schubert pretty sure.
They bought a property in champagne, California, and Bordeaux.
Everything is 6.7 acidity and 14.5 alcohol and they is specific and prescribed by the winery.

The nose is immediately inviting, drawing you in with whiffs of licorice, vanilla, blood plum, raspberry and sarsaparilla root. It is deeply pitch and loaded with dark fruits in the mouth. It has great intensity and build, and the extremely long finish is carried by velvety, plush tannins.

Medium+ intensity of aromas. There's a blow to the face amount of very plummy black fruit, cassis- and plum liquor, chocolate, violets and bushy, herbal aromas.
On palate it has supple, medium+ tannins, medium+ acidity, meidum+ alcohol and medium+ body. Flavours are as above but with an added heavy toasted oak spiciness that adds another layer to the immensities of this wine.

Wine Spectator 40th Anniversary; 10/21/2021-10/23/2021 (Marriott Marquis): Good to see that there was a lot of this vintage since it got poured both nights. It's a wine for aging for sure but all the right stuffing there for that.
