Via Coravin, had to have a glass to check on this. As suspected, after 8 years, still painfully young. Given my extensive experience with much older vintages of Ridge York Creek PS from the late 70’s, early 80’s and 90’s, best advice is patience. This needs at least another 5 years in the cellar. Dense and concentrated, medium plus acidity, jammy black fruits, graphite, road tar, creosote, garrigue. When properly aged, these wines can be sublime. Higher scores ahead. Put them away at the bottom of your cellar and forget about them for a while…
Outstanding. Was excellent right out of the bottle, no air necessary. Was terrific with a ribeye, frites, rice, and peruvian aji amarillo sauce. Intend to buy more.

Good. Other reviews claim it needs more time. To me, it tasted like it is past it's drink-by date. Deep inky purple and some tobacco notes, but it felt flat and not nearly as interesting as other Ridge wines.

Popped and poured. Dark purple color. Really nice nose of blackberry jam, cassis, toasted oak, a bit of peppery spice. Similar flavors on the palate with some toasty oak and chocolate on the finish. Medium+ acid and tannin. Drinking very well right now with a smooth mouthfeel and long finish. Was surprised with how good this was since I normally do not favor petite sirah.

Deep red color. Leather and tobacco. Tasted with the 2016; this one is markedly better. Is that just the extra year of age, or is this a better wine? Maybe the 2014 will settle the question.

Poured through a Vinturi, rich aromas of dark fruit, currant, cassis. Big, bold full body, dry, moderate acidity, bold, aggressive tannins that linger in the long finish. Fruit forward, jammy, blackberry.

- Brick color with medium forming legs and aromas of blackberry and black pepper. It's in total harmony and has flavours of black currant and blackberry with a full body. Round texture with a medium finish - Rich dark ruby red. Abundant dark fruit aromas with matching, full bodied flavors. This is a big wine that is a pleasure to drink on its own. If you want to pair with food, bring on the flavors! One note, there was significant sediment and the cork when removed revealed a landscape of crystals on the bottom.

I'm in love with this wine. Decanted for about an hour. Others say it's dry, but I did not find it so (compare to a malbec, etc). Ate with a vegan steakhouse type meal. It was dryer after eating sweet dessert of apple pie. But on it's own, it was like a raspberry chocolate parfait. Deep and jammy. Beautiful nose. As with most aged petite syrah's not much tannin or acidity, well balanced 14% alcohol. Marvelous drinking wine by the fire.

Enjoyed this bottle a lot more than the previous one 6 months ago. Still incredibly light bodied but found it much more interesting. Paired with grilled maple/mustard pork chops and this was great.

Agree with Wetrock completely. Much lighter bodied than I would have expected. Decanted an hour and it was pleasant, but just flat and nothing complex about it. Have one more bottle which I'll save for a few years. Winemaker says on the label it should go 10 easily.
Very dry and a bit flat. Dark, thick, solid fruit. Cedar, tobacco. Tight fine tannic finish. Maybe this will improve with time, but I think this just isn't Ridge's best varietal.

Lighter bodied and less fat than the 2014. Much more even and easier drinking right now. Not showing oak but a strong blackberry sort of aroma. Strong tannin but not as strong as you might expect for PS. But also not very complex like you do expect for the grape. This one seems more open for consumption than you would normally expect. It will also last quite a while I would imagine. Consistent over three nights. Solid.

Tasted at the winery. 100% vines from the Napa Valley. This is a big wine, it's quite rich and has big tannins which cover the teeth. I like this style, so I enjoyed it, my wife less keen.

maybe it needs more aging as it has been suggested by others. My other bottle I slated for next year, but maybe I'll move it out later....

Was good but definitely felt like it needs more aging for it to fully come out. Tasted young still

A solid petite sirah. Slightly tannic. Deep in color. Nose of dark cherries and dark berries. Ridge rarely disappoints.

Much better after being open for a couple of hours. The dark fruit and earth came out, along with a delightful peppery finish. Solid performer.
