This wine is made in a modern style with sweet, ripe, round fruit and low tannins. I think aging in small barrels instead of large botti is the heart of the difference from traditional Brunello. Both styles are good; they’re just very different. My guess is that most people, especially French wine drinkers, will prefer this style. The smooth cherry fruit and rosy aromas are delicious. There is some tobacco and herbs if you really sniff, but I think this wine’s virtue is its simple enjoyability.
I’m rather pleased that I guessed modern sangiovese tasting blind, but I guessed Chianti or even elsewhere in Italy. I’ve never tasted Brunello like this.

I decanted my Montosoli, and then I let it sit for three hours. The 2015 Altesino Montosoli is open for business. There is little tannin, and it is a very smooth drink. It is definitely better than the 2015 estate Brunello. A nice pour, but not outstanding. Is it worth $80 a bottle? Probably not.

Nice. Soft nose, brown purple hue. Soft smooth first Brunello burst - dry dark fruits cherries, hint of currant and chocolate. Dry earthy finish ling linger - ash, leather, earth. Drinking very well.

I made this mistake of pulling this from the cellar at 55° fifteen minutes before opening it and only giving it another ten minutes of air.
For the first fifteen minutes in the glass I thought the bottle was bad. Then after an additional 30-45 minutes it started to open up and show what it can be. The last glass was enjoyable and commensurate with the prior notes given on CT.
Don't make the same mistake. Give this 2+ hours of air or another 3-4 years of time in the bottle.

what a spectacular bottle of wine, super high acidity for lift and aging pot'l, super bright and dark red fruit, slight lemon / umami... the nose is huge but comes in and out over the course of decanting (2 hours) and drinking (3 hours)... my experience on aging Sangiovese is limited but my guess is yes this can be a 94 (or more?) with 10-20 years... no Soldera but an epic vintage for BdM and this wine in particular

Double magnum, ouvert 9 heures avant dégustation. Robe carmin, brillante.

Altesino Montosoli 2015 taste dark chocolate praline with a core of cherry liqueur, licorice bar, almonds and a little underlying green tones of something that will be integrated with age. The label claims an alcohol of 14.5% but it doesnt show at all. A superbrunello that certainly is young but very much enjoyable already now.

We had a pizza, and this was the first Italian wine I found. Transperant ruby. Light by it’s looks. A touch of nail polish on the nose. But still pleasant. Red berries, quite acid, lots of tannings which I like. Young, and not fully integrated. Luckily I have another 5 bottles!

Very purple fruit and flower character mixed with red fruit and tomato leaves. The tannins were very smooth on entry but left a bit of grit on the finish. One of the better Brunello's I've had, although it feels like it could use a few more years in the cellar!
Medium dark red colour, modest fruiting nose. Classic first Brunello burst of dark fruits, cherries, currants moving to a short smooth middle. Finish is also big, rich, fruit with medium linger. Not dry or earthy so likely needs 2-3 yrs more aging.

Tasted at Benvenuto Brunello NYC. Light to medium garnet color. Nose and palate express red florals, cherry, licorice and light earthy minerals. Elegant and balanced. A little more dense and medium bodied than the normale with excellent structure...Needs some cellaring, I wouldn't drink until after it's 12th birthday.

Very well balanced and powerful. Needed some decanting (3 hrs) but then gave a lot of dark fruit and the “taste of the Italian sun”

Capa media baja.
Frutal, ahumado (no sé definirlo mejor). Smokie.
En boca es fresco, redondo, tanino muy pulido.
Sorprendemente bueno y irá a más.
