  • Quarterly time series development note..
....Day 1 with pasta..not tomato based. Did very well
....Day 2 with Korean pork.tofu fried rice. Was decent-not-great. Acidity went well with the dish..even the accompanying fishy kimchi
....Day 3 with hamburger/sweet potato fries and corn and feta hash with curry leaves . Was delightful! Best of the 3 days

  • Pork loin braized in grainy mustard sauce with all the sides - creme fraiche, polish sauerkraut, buttered spaetzle, even leftover creamy mashed potatoes

Delightful! Short decant. Did fine with the sauerkraut too. Continued sipping post dinner and realized how much of a Day-1 food wine this is..

This wine has many more years left in it...at my rate of consumption, the last one will be in 3 years....and will probably be the best

  • First red of Thanksgiving meal. 4 hour decant. Did well with shaved Brussels sprouts salad, chimichuri sweet potato, mashed potatoes ..and yes turkey...The barolo that followed was only a marginally better complement

  • Better the second night Needs decanting and time to open up then you get pretty aromas of rose petals and dried cherry with baked plums. Juicy palate with a long finish and classic Nebbiolo tannins Drinking nicely now but can cellar a few more years easily

  • Every time I open a bottle, knowing that i am drinking a nice-year Barbaresco, that hits all the cylinders, for a mid teens price...is immensely satisfying

This one over 2 days. Clearly a food wine. Day 1 with Domino's pizza (slathered with anchovies and onions in piri.piri oil...and made crispier). Day 2 with buffalo-lamb meatballs with pasta.

Worked best on Day 2. Not sure if food match or 1 Day in fridge

This wine is very good now ... but I think it's peak is 2-3 years away. And hope it is a long plateau ..have a lot of inventory!

  • House wine. Day 3 of remaining half bottle from fridge. Mellower acid but significant additional heft. While tasty, was not expecting such a dramatic change. Did very well with bean.kale.sausage soup

  • Clearly a food wine. Decanting is good. Maybe perception - but becoming more savory vs acidic. A good thing but good to know
    * Day 1 - Roasted Chicken and summer veggies. No decant. Was tasty - worried it would be too acidic/tannic - was not
    * Day 2 - Chicken sandwich with garlic/avocado /spicy aioli - delightful! Handled spice well

  • With pasta.pork.fennel.roasterd tomatoes. Great match...for fennel and tomato. Right level of acidity and fruitiness. Did not catch the "astringent" finish per WE. Seriously evaluating 2nd case order

Update: did order case 2 ...can't beat the price for a nice piedmont drinker. Has legs for the medium haul

  • 1. Had a couple of glasses with chicken in mustard.onion sauce + sautéed asparagus.
Delicious. Significant finish. 5 to 10 mins in the glass calms any roughness down. Did not catch the below-mentioned acidity in any significant or negative way. Ripe tasting enough to believe it is fully ready (WE review is on point)
    2. Day 2 Great midriff. Some of the upfront sparkle toned down. Smooth as silk. Goes from hard food wine to fine as aperitif too. The muted red fruit shows more than Day 1

Personally may prefer Day 1...with a bit of air

  • Shows a textbook Barbaresco nose of cherry candy, earth, rose petals and spice. A pretty, semi-translucent magenta in color, right up to the edge. Medium-to-full bodied and elegant in texture - quite traditional in style. Tart and tangy, with a bracing acidity. There's very good depth and fine length to this, but right now the mouth-puckering tannins and oak overwhelm the cherry and raspberry fruit. A little rough-around-the-edges, this needs time to soften up and come together. Has good potential and excellent QPR at just $14.99.
