Dark and medium red fruits, their youthful brightness replaced with age by richness and balanced by just enough acidity along with a hint of stem, and a touch of earth added a layer of complexity which made the drinking experience that much more rewarding.
Some months ago, I opened a Boudots, same vintage - and the profiles are similar and consistently fine, though I think this bottle the better of the two. I believe this vintage is now in its prime drinking window; unlikely to improve with more age though one does not need to rush - there appears to be years of life left.

Disapointing. This wine is -for a 2005 vintage- very old. Showing good as and older wine but I wasn't expecting that in 2019. Some tertiaire tones. Nice with some food but not what I was expecting.

very good burgundy that held its own with a marinated steak roast - earthy with medium body - still a bit young and not fully open - but is drinking well even now and for years to come

Nuits Potpourri (Arlequin Wines, San Francisco): After a false start with one corked bottle, this had a lighter red color and very pretty floral aromatics. Medium body, prominent acidity, good Nuits mix of black cherry and some earth. Linear and not very charming at present. I am mildly encouraged by the aromatic development and the presence of some fruit that is mostly in the background now . However, I'm not convinced about its balance going forward. Having said that, there is really is no choice other than to hold onto your bottles for another 5 or 10 years and see whether they soften and flesh out because they are certainly not enjoyable in their current state.

Delicious, and textbook mature NSG.

Strawberry, cherry, sous-bois; smooth, gradual, silky, lingering; refined but simple

Burgundy Pas de Deux-Heritiers du Comte Lafon and Jerome Chezeaux (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Medium center, lighter edge. Brooding and closed. Packed, dense and closed on the palate too. Behind the wall of tannin is stern black fruit, anise and powerful acidity. Tough going now, but this seems to have the right stuff going forward. Do not even think about opening a bottle for another 8 to 10 years!

Pale, light and lean. Very iron and blood on the palate, with red berries. Somewhat reminds me of trad Rioja.
