  • now this was FANTASTIC... i'm 90% a burg guy (for whites) but this is special... Tiff said "great acidity" and that was the case on the pnp, then after about 2-3 hours in the decanter this developed some richness and maybe sweet (?) citrus fruit to balance... just packed a punch with various (and confusing) flavors... but LOVED it... bought 6 btls of 2019 this AM... hope those are just as good, with time at least

  • Decanted a portion with stir and it improved over 2 hrs. Vacuvin’d the rest. Similar results on day 3 and seemed to open more over an hour after decant. Medium straw/pale gold color. A little lemon rind, light grass on the nose. Grapefruit rind, lemon zest, pear, touch of grass, light pepper on the palate with 30-35 sec finish. Not happy with QPR on this one right now, and I question what will happen with more age.. Better paired with food

  • Incredible French white wine, young Loire valley sauvignon blanc now produced by Didier's son and the new wine making team, intense, totally approachable and drinkable now but this has a long way to go to evolve into true maturity and potential and I suspect based on the '06 and '07's that we have that on maturation starting in 5-7 years+ score wise this will easily be 96+ points. Full bodied, smooth, intense core and nose at this stage a bit reticent and muted with acidic notes overlayed bu white peach, musk melon and a hint of burnt sugar. Flavor profile intense with yeast, pear, a hint of green tea that we have come across before on Didier's wines, honey suckle and a sweeter note of caramel on the beautiful long drawn out finish. Highly recommend with the caveat and understanding that right now this is still a very young wine needing years more cellaring time - if drunk now this white wine would actually benefit from 3-4 hours in the decanter. Right now a moderate QPR wine, despite the price point on full maturation this will likely be a very reasonable QPR wine, it will be just that good.

  • "Old Bordeaux" = '86! (Old Home of Woodward): A truly great Sauv Blanc! Lots of potential for a higher score later. Deep fresh green and yellow fruit bouncing on rocks in a saline rain. The few of these I've had before were older and even more complex: 2024-2032.

  • First experience with this producer. Gold color with a green hue.Great mineral nose with green notes without being grassy. All class on the smooth palate, with a crisp acidity on the very long finish. Fantastic.

  • Flint, wet slate, mineral, petrichor above lemon / lime, somewhat grassy, and even tropical yellow fruits. Intensely powerful, extremely fresh and clean. Somewhat oily texture. Unique and a pleasure.

  • We've all wanted to try that wine with the rock on it, the famous Didier Dagueneau Silex. Even if you don't know anything about wine, you still want to buy a bottle with a rock on it, c'mon. An ex motorcycle and dog-sled racer, Dider Dagueaneau was first inspired by Burgundy's Edmond Vatan and Henri Jayer to take Pouilly-Fume to another level. He experimented with a range of approaches and philosophies, but always came back to tradition. Cuvee Silex comes from 60-90-year-old vines grown on the namesake silex (flinty) soils on Saint-Andlaint.

To open a 2017 Silex is a blessing and a tragedy at the same time. Even though the wine is painfully young, one gets the opportunity to dig deep into it and detect what makes it age so gracefully. All fresh fruit right now - citrus, green apple, green melon and some nuts. Wouldn't go as far as saying "apple carcass" as one Cellartracker reviewer did, but that's just me. A wave of acid makes the jaw clench, but the savoury element at the back makes it relax straight away. It all feels disjointed now, but there is so much flesh here that will keep this singing for a decade or two.

  • Pronounced complex and seductive aromas with this distinct salt and dust layer that lies over and impresses. Great fruit with apple peel, some apple carcass, concentrated citrus and white pepper. Good full-bodied and pronounced fresh Dageneau which is perceived as quite packed today. Here it is difficult to read, but wonderfully concentrated citrus fruit, green and yellow fruit peel, tendency to grapefruit, hints of nut and this deep delicious salt layer impresses. Nice fresh and concentrated finish. This is a brilliant Silex that needs a decade in the cellar. 93 points. For now. (93-95 points)

  • Dry, med acidity, med body, med- intensity and med+ finish. Extremely delicate and well defined aromas of asparagus, green pepper, elderflower, grapefruit, lime. Well balanced. Way too young yet. Rating based on the wine right know. I believe it has huge potential (tasted at restaurant Jordnaer against 5 natural wines

  • Exceptional — Didier nailed it with this one. Clarity of flavors and finish. The aroma is complex and not dominated by a single note. On the tongue it is passion of flavors. Starts very clean and finishes with depth and mineral. This one could be even better after another five to 10 years. Buy more.
