PnP. Final bottle purchased on release and it's consistent with the one I opened two years ago. Color remains bright, clear, light straw. Fading intensity of aromas and flavors, but plenty of acidity. This variety can age, no doubt, but I'd not be sitting on these '18s any longer if I had more - there just doesn't seem to be enough fruit. I'll happily look for the new release. recommended

PnP. There's little sign of age to the pale straw color, and the wine's still bright and clear, and yet, given the current state of the acids, and if this is representative of this bottling in general terms, I'd drink sooner than later. That's not to say the wine is missing anything of true import on this day, rather it's to say that after spending some quality time with this, I'm inclined to believe there's no upside in further cellaring. Nearly medium-bodied, the wine offers avg+ complexity and length, and proved a very suitable companion to a cracking good creole shrimp dish with fennel sausage, chili lime broth, focaccia, charred tomato, radish and scallion. I can see where this would be considered too thin, sparing, even, to most wine drinkers, and that's ok, there's more for us, read: me. Easily recommended, likely best thru 2025.

This was much better than the austere and shortish, anonymous 2017 of this wine which I tried last year. Has aromas of chalk, wax, veggie hints, stone fruits and vanilla. Its medium bodied layered freshly fruited lightly vanillary stoney veggie+ stone fruits palate ends longish and tapering. 13%. Needs 30 mins aeration. Lay down 5 years+.

Not much to add to the previous note, though maybe a little more open. Youthful orchard fruits giving kind of a fleshy character. Some citrus notes and just a hint of nuttiness add complexity. Rounded on the palate with balanced acidity. Drink now.

Knowing A de V's great interest in Bouzeron, I thought that I would try this. They make a big play of having Aligoté Doré rather than Aligoté Vert, as it gives lower yields. So how does it stack up?
Colour: light gold, bright, clear Nose: full, fresh, v ripe as to be expected from the year, soft, v ripe fruit flavours, apricot, peach rather than citrus flavours, no oak, Taste: light body, rounded, soft at first but builds in the mouth ending in a gum puckering dryness. Seems to lack structure and acidity with a rather short finish. Oxidative notes too. Overall, not hugely impressed. Would I rate it more highly blind and not being blinded by the V name? Hmmm...

Agree with the previous note--this is a bit restrained, but plenty of minerality. Rounded on the palate, with nice richness and depth. Maybe a touch of oak on the finish, but it seems complimentary and only adding richness.
First experience with this wine, and I'm not disappointed. Would be a better value around $25-$30, but given the producer and the prices in Burgundy these days, I wouldn't call it overpriced. Drink within the next 1-2 years.

I was keen to try this after having the Bourgogne a few months ago, which I loved. This is even better! Needs a generous decant to show it's best, and then it shines. This wine for me is all about the structure, minerality and development on the palette. The fruit is relatively austere here, but it is there. Apple skin, lemon juice and underripe peach. This wine really gets you with the amazing acidic, mineralic attack, and beautiful progression through to the richer, creamy finish. There is a light oaking here, but it doesn't show up until the finish. Amazing how they did this! It keeps the wine so fresh and iniviting on the first taste, but leaves you with a lovely mouthfeel and richness at the end. CHF 28 is a steal for this kind of quality. EDIT: Day 2 this has collapsed somewhat. I like my wines to hold up at least 24 hours, so I'm marking this down from 92-91

Opened and let air a half-hour ahead of leftover balsamic pork chops, mixed veggies, and potato salad. Pale straw color with a yellow-green hue. The nose brings floral apricot blossoms, lemon zest, white chalk, and white spring flowers. The palate is light, round, tangy, yet sturdy, bringing zesty lime, lemongrass, tangerine, and smashed granite concrete. The finish is smooth, textured, and even silky, bringing warm peach cobbler into a refined finish. Drink 2021-2024. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92.

Clear, Pale Lemon in color Clean, Green Apple, Lemon, Floral aromatics Creamy core - Lemon zest - lively acidity - finesse and roundness Med Body / 13% ABV Fits between Muscadet & Chablis nicely
👀 Pale straw 👃Not decanted. Opens up with an intense floral note. The attack are citrus fruits with some minerals at mid palate. 👅 Light bodied and low intensity. Refreshing mouthwatering acidity (Medium +). Short finish with some salinity but rich and lively!

Drank blind with the Xmen last nite. No one guessed Aligote, tho some thought Chablis, others Chenin Blanc. Pale gold color. Floral nose, with some citrus. Very fresh. Light to med body (I detected some roundness in the mouthfeel), fizziness up-front reveals the high acidity level. Lots of lime, some melon in the mid-palate, with flinty stone minerality throughout. Very long, dry, stone, lime-infused finish to me is the wine's most memorable characteristic. Would go well with oysters/shellfish. PS: Finished bottle 2nd nite and it was just as fresh/vibrant as the nite before. Lovely, if fairly expensive wine (Muscadet would be half the price and bring a similar, if not so complex result)

Short decant. Big burgundy glasses. For a 2018 relatively deep yellow with some green reflexes. Dominating notes of citrus, some green fruits and a lot of minerality and a little saltiness as the wine gets warmer and more air. Very special note on the finish like firestone or gunflint, decent but noticeble. Will be a killer with oysters! I really liked it. Very young indeed, will gain complexity over the next years. Hold.

This wine is a light straw color. The nose has immediate aromas of citrus and white flowers followed by mustard seed and ginger notes that are more pronounced as it warms. The palate follows the nose and adds saline to the mix. It is clean, but the mustard seed and ginger notes prevent it from being too crisp. The acid base provides a good platform for the fruit, yet doesn’t overpower the savory elements. The wine has a medium-light body. IMO this wine would go well with cheese, nuts, and other fatty appetizers, but might not pair well with fish or poultry. Alcohol 13%.

Definitely seemed older than 2018 with subdued acidity and oily texture. Still it was a welcome surprise given the approachability. Citrus, honey, melon and mineral. Delivers at $30 or so.

Herbal and citrus driven. A hint of white flowers. It honestly tastes "old" even though it's a 2018. Blinded, I would guess 2014 at the youngest. Very suspicious; but still drinkable. Medium bodied. Medium acid. There are better wines from Bouzeron.

It is more variety driven rather than terroir driven wine to me. It is not masking or pretending it is Chardonnay. Very clean, predominantly herbal, with piercing acidity. Green and grassy. Not mineral in the sense of stones, salinity. More herbal. It is quite Southern appellation, but the wine does not seem hot at all. Acidity gives the freshness, and weightless body leaving no sense of heaviness. This Domaine is founded and owned by Aubert de Villaine of DRC and his wife Pamela. It is directed by his nephew Pierre de Benoist. Yields are kept low and vineyards are farmed organically and following biodynamic principles. Bouzeron is the appellation dedicated to Aligote. Before it's obtained its own village appellation in 1997 mostly due to the advocacy of Aubert, it was sold as Bourgogne Aligote de Bouzeron.

Nez avec de la finesse au départ aux aromes herbacés, puis poire et enfin coquilles huitres.
Bouche fraiche, ciselée avec une bonne longueur.
Un style d'aligoté que j'affectionne.

The good whites of Burgundy, aka liquid gold, are what they are because of great blending - in this case, Pierre Benoist of DRC.
This is special not just for the florals, the woods, the citrus, the spice, but for these things together.
Lemon chamomile and a cedar lined drawer. Vibrant and young with a sturdy back and all the confidence in the world.
