  • Came across on the menu in a little bistro / restaurant in the 18th arrondissement - they have an allocation and the price was too good to resist. My first Allemand, and although my expectations were high and the wine was young - damn this was good ! Incredibly intense dark fruit, very dry, in the best possible way, and so long... I didn't take any notes, but paid plenty of attention over a couple of hours (in a decanter) with some very hearty French food. Up there with an improbably young & stupendously good Jamet Cote Rotie 2019 as my wine of the year. Undoubtedly this has much more to come, but it was already splendid & memorable.

  • Decanted 4 hours and put back into the bottle. Quiet nose with some black pepper and florals on the nose. Perfectly balanced on the palate with dark fruit, precise acidity, and very present - but fine - tannin. Had this next to the 2006, and this struck me as cut from the same exact cloth...just more youthful... maybe blacker fruit than the 2006, but perhaps that will change with another decade of age. Scored on where I think this wine will be in a decade (same as the 2006).

  • My 5th different Reynard vintage and I’m starting to understand the appeal of these wines. I guess my formative experiences with cornas/northern rhone syrah had a different flavor profile (olive, game) that I don’t really get from Allemand Reynard. These are singular, and I guess that’s what makes them special. There is great purity and elegance and amazing lightness and energy for a young wine from a warm vintage. Still not completely convinced that this is better than a good jamet or gonon but I am enjoying this quite a bit.

  • We drank this alongside a 2017 Clape and while not as intense or dense it’s complex weightlessness blew the Clape away. Dark berry, plum, lavender, mineral, damp soil, violets, cassis and iodine. Unlike the Clape the acid and tannins rip here. Drinkable now but this is for the long haul. Outstanding as always.

  • "Beat the '13 Soldera theme'd session". Popped and decanted (blinded) for ~3-hrs before serving. Dark, inky purple, this still appeared reticent despite the decanting. There was some faint scents of violets, pepper, meat and smoke that appeared to shift in/out (appear/disappear). A big (fruited) wine as the color suggested, this wasn't exactly closed nor shut down, just not as giving/showy as I had hoped for. Gobs of plush black, purple fruit on the palate. The concentration/intensity was really quite amazing/incredible, and well balanced with acidity too. Most guessed this as a GC Burg... This had all the stuffing and material to make a great great wine (some day), but just not showy today (due to its youth most probably)

  • Surprisingly open, nearly from from the get-go. Amazing florals, violets, pepper, smoke and something subtle and animal on the nose. On the palate, excellent fruit and acid balance, impeccable tannins. Delicate, immensely complex and just plain enjoyable--a wow wine. One of my top syrahs of the year along with another one from Edmunds St John, and they remind me of each other more than a little.

  • purple flowers, white pepper, olive, deep black fruit on the nose. powerful intense fruit. The purity on the palate from the acid was *chef’s kiss*.

  • Day 1: Poured a large ( :-) ) glass and coravined the rest. On the pour very expressive red fruited nose which faded. This was drank as a pop n pour but was more expressive at the 1 hour mark.

Day 3: Decanted the rest of the bottle for over an hour. The wine was more open with raspberry fruit, oak, mint, herbs, bacon fat, Bristol cream and mint chocolate. More mint on the nose and palate. As others have said quite plush and complex. This had a lovely balance which is hard to find in young wines. Still young, probably needs a few more years to. One of the best young Northern Rhones I’ve had in a while, even if I prefer heading south to Rayas (the Fonsalette is the best Rhone style wine for me - still haven’t tried the flagship). Cheers!

  • This is an epitome of extraordinary luxurious Syrah made from 50-90 year old vines. Opaque ruby. Elegant, precise and seductive aroma filled with deep notes of flowers, iodine, blackberries, cassis, liquorice, cured meat, peppery and camphor hints. Full body, showing another dimension of finesse and elegance, incredible concentration of dense black fruit elixir goes in harmony with chewy powdery tannins leading to smoky minerality which intertwines with fragrant field of rich and dark flowers.

  • Wow, amazing wine. Completely open for business. So much depth of fruit and complexity. I was dreaming of pairing this with a great hamburger.

  • Opaque violet.
    Nose expressive, some dark fruits.
Palate very nice dark fruit depth, a strongly mineral backbone, a wild note. An anise flavor at times. Deep, a treat to try but obviously still a baby. 95+

  • Opened and followed over 4 hours. Red and dark fruit. There’s also berries, olive, spice, meat and smoke. Lots going on here. Will undoubtedly age well, but caught this particular bottle at a good time as it was wide open and flat out delicious.

  • You ever see that gif of Emma Stone rolling her eyes and saying yum? That. Next level stuff -- this is as close to the pinnacle of young syrah as I can possibly imagine. The nose is an incredibly intense mix of sweet black and red fruit, olives, smoke, and meat. It's every note that you want to find in a syrah, and they're there in copious quantities. You can spend as much time with each component as you would like. The palate is silk. There are no rough edges; it's as if touching it would ruin the texture. The fruit is extremely ripe, but never goes over the top. This isn't sweet; it's that the fruit provides the sensation of sweetness, and instead gives you just the right amount of acidity to balance it out. Savoury and saline, kaleidoscopically complex and rich. And the minerality of this wine is impossible to miss. I look forward, with great anticipation, to drinking a mature bottle of this.

  • Decided to give this a test drive since nobody else really has. Helps that 2017 is a more approachable vintage. Yolo.

Decanted for 3 hours in the morning, recorked, and brought to the restaurant a few hours later. This was extremely expressive with tons of florals, olive oil, pepper, and berries. It was constantly changing in terms of which aroma was emphasized and pretty plush on the palate. So much to love here. My friend thinks it's possibly the best young Reynard he's ever had and I'm inclined to agree. No regrets for trying one so soon.

  • Okay there is probably no way in hell we should have opened this but it was Christmas Eve and we were celebrating! The nose was stellar full of dark berries and herbs - really perfumed the air. The palate is densely packed with black fruit, savory olives and mineralality, followed with a good smack of young tannin. Hold these - patience will be rewarded.
