  • A beautifully tingly and complex Meursault with a lighter-body and supreme elegance if lacking a bit of acidity. I tasted it blind and really thought it was 5-10 years older which is typical of my experience with the 2018 vintage. Lovely for current drinking though.

  • One of the best wines I've had this year (and probably ever). Lots of power and elegance, some reduction, lemon curd, some cream, yellow fruit, elegant use of oak, the whole shebang. I didn't make a detailed note :). The wine was opened maybe 1-2 hours before drinking and showed beautifully.

  • 2018 White Burgundy and 2008 Dujac: As always, a lovely and somewhat understated wine.

  • 2022 Excellent Burgundy Adventure; 10/31/2022-11/6/2022 (Burgundy): Expressive nose displaying bright yellow fruit, candied lemon peel, lemon curd, peach, marzipan, sesame/toasted oak, cream, and crushed rocks. Excellent concentration, nicely layered sweet yellow fruit, rich and oily but also energetic and nicely detailed, bright acidity, strong mineral and a long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with sesame and limestone at the end. I slightly prefer to the 18 Perrieres as I find this to be more harmonious.

  • A gorgeous trio of 2018 Lafon Meursault (Genevrieres, Perrieres, Poruzots). The Genevrieres was delightful, if slightly toned down relative to it's siblings. I love Lafon's Genevrieres and this vintage is no exception. The Perrieres took a while to fully open, but in the end was captivating and my favorite. The Poruzots was impressive from the first sip, and left us inspired. All bottles decanted for 90 minutes, returned to the bottle, and drunk leisurely over two hours. Lafon's Meursault are compelling, and drinking them together is the definition of a very good night.

  • Many thanks to BradE for providing an amazing horizonal of the 2018 Lafon Meursaults (Genevrieres, Perrieres, Poruzots)! While I a give a slight edge to the Perrieres tonight for its refinement & pure class, the Genevriesres too was lovely tonight and just a smidge behind the Perrieres & Poruzots for me in overall experience. While a beautiful wine in its own right it lacked some of the refinement of the Perrieres. Said to be decanted for 90 minutes, returned to the bottle & later enjoyed by 4 of us over a good 2 hours. As a recent scribe here perfectly stated "Lafon's Meursault are compelling, and drinking them together is the definition of a very good nigh". I concur, a very good night, indeed. Thanks Brad!
