On some level I think Ridge is toying with me as I have had some duds and unremarkable wines from them of late. This however bucks that trend and is outstanding. This is deep and perfumed. I get some sort of berry liqueur on the nose that is a joy in itself. Mouthfeel is rich and velvety smooth. Not the Jimsomare I recall from a decade or more ago, better than the 2018 and 2019 I’ve had recently. Absolutely no harm in consuming this now.

15.3% abv. Medium ruby, expressive aromas. Raspberry, dark cherry, cran apple, bramble and blue fruit. Very nice acidic structure, excellent depth and length. A little rustic now, should smooth out beautifully with age. Jimsomare, in my experience are great agers over the 5-15 year range. Very enjoyable now, however.

So they whacked this with the wood pretty good. Buuuuuut...there is ample structure here with a focused core of fruit and acidity so I'm hopeful it will integrate with some time. It's interesting because the wood goes from overt to barely noticeable and back again. And then fades again. I tracked this over three nights. Focused pure Zin fruit with a dark edge. The acidity is terrific being like the natural spine. Never tart. Fully tied to the fruit. I'd give this at least another year in bottle to integrate better. I don't think it will ever develop the complexity to warrant long aging but it's going to last for a while. Liked with reservations.

Very nice wine. Ripe, as recent Jimsos have tended to be, but in a good way - has the excellent acidity of the vineyard and the plummy fruit has a velvety texture and spiciness that is in no way sweet or raisiny. Reminds me strongly of a CVNE Vina Real gran reserva, with its warm fruit, american oak, and acid spine. One of my favorite zin vineyards.

This has uncoiled nicely in the past 18 months, with loads of evergreen, high-toned fruit and a long finish. Really in a good place now.

Very port like. Deep fruit, high alcohol, even though dry, sense of sweet
