Powerful, dense wine, dark and smoky. Aromas of smoked meat, ripe blackberry, black cherry, currant, plum, vanilla, spices. Palate is jam-packed with flavor, very meaty and rich. High alcohol and ripe tannins on the finish. Great wine for steak and grilled meats.

Second time around with this wine, as I tasted at the winery's tasting bar and wasn't impressed then, so I was not really looking forward to this blind purchase a year ago. Was much better after it had been open for 3 days, but still disappointing for the price. The Nose was different with red cherry and a meaty and a vegetal component that went away at over the days. On the mouth I get mostly tart red cherry, more meat, some vegetal aspect, with a little acidity on tail. Medium body and a short finsih. Was nice with food, but that doesn't do it for me.

Interesting wine, reminiscent of Bodegas Tacuil offerings. Peppers, cut tobacco, herbs, richness, and umami. Great acid, integrated tannins, lush mouthfeel, substantive finish. Drink by 2018.
