Dinner with Steve & Barbara (Our Place): Decanted for about 15 minutes (with sediment) but continued to open in the glass, so a 30 to 45 minute decant may be best. A Left Bank Bordeaux blend -- 60% Cabernet Sauv.; 20% Merlot; 15% Cabernet Franc; and 5% Petit Verdot -- from Tuscany. A bit livelier and fruitier, and less earthy, than many of the 2005 Bordeaux we've had. Lots of spice, some dark red fruits and juicy acidity in this medium bodied wine which is beginning to show its age as there was some loss of fruit and a touch of drying tannins by the time we finished our glass.

had alongside 05 monile and 05 falesco marciliano w/ roasted beef tenderloin. there was a fineness and depth here not found in the other two wines. saline notes, mineral, perhaps trending toward redder fruits. clearly a well made wine that is holding nicely and will continue to do so.

Was looking for something to have with Conte's pizza - make the ordinary more interesting...In my cellar for 10+ years, last bottle. PnP, drank over 2+ hours.
Blood ruby color. Nose showing dark red fruits, rose petal. Supple palate showing dark cherry, plums, smoke, lavender. Medium weight and long(ish) finish. Tannins resolving but still there. Some sediment at the bottom.
Last bottle was 2016, the wine may have improved from there. texture is notable, from Merlot content (~25%). Took about 45 minutes to really show, was at its best towards the end. Could have used a 90 minute decant...my miss. Drinking really well at this point and should continue to drink at this level for another 5- years. Really worth opening now (be sure to decant...). I think I paid ~$50 when these were purchased, great QPR and longevity at that price

Bricking ox-blood in color. Full bodied Meaty, undergrowth, wet wool Super dry, cherries, same taste profile as the nose. Chewy. A little more structure and fruit off this bottle than the last.
I was hoping this was going to drink better than the last bottle I consumed earlier this year, but it was only marginally better.

The '05 Giusto di Notri was intense, with a mix of raspberry, cherry, and Tuscan spice, with leather, cedar and undergrowth. On the palate, I found spicy, savory, chewy textures with dried cherries, wild herbs, and gruff tannin offset by zesty acidity. The finish was long with saturating red fruits and spice that seemed to go on and on.

Meatball/Gangster night...great meal prepared by Stephanie for an enthusiastic, gangster clad group. Brought 4 bottles of this to revisit, last tasting was Valerie's 50th...
PnP, drank over 3 hours. Would benefit from a decant. Rich nose...Palate of dark and red fruits, plums, cherry, earth, lavender. Fruit forward with an elegant texture, medium bodied and elegant.
A few years of age have improved the wine from last tasting. In a good spot now, will drink well for next 10+ years, IMO.

Wine Tasting Group: Five from '05 (Peter and Fran's): Nice and consistent with previous notes. A whiff of candy on the nose, followed by lively fruit. Tart and a bit tannic, with some rather subtle herb and tobacco notes. Not a lot of secondaries, but this was well balanced and nice to drink. Very solid. My #3, group's #2. I guessed this one correctly.

Needed about an hour to really show, but it was definitely good upon opening.
Initially it showed notes of blackberry and dried herbs, with black cherry, red earth and spice showing later with additional air. A great wine with nice tannin, albeit not as dense or "tasty" as the '07 or '08.

Consumed over 3 hours. At 10 years of age, the Giusto di Notri is in the beginning of its drinking window. Black cherries, herb-tinged plums and violets can all be found in this medium-bodied Bordeaux blend. The wine opens up with a big blast of fruit and then tails off rather abruptly into a medium-bodied, mineral and graphite-laced mid-palate followed by a 10- to 15-second finish with gentle grip. Somewhat reminiscent of a modern-styled right bank Bordeaux of similar age. Drink over the next decade.

My first experience with the Giusto. Drank alongside a 00 and 05 Perlato. Honestly, those were preferred likely b/c of the sangiovese character. This is still young. Definitely big boned and brooding. It really tasted like a solid youngish Medoc, but why should I want that from Italy? I have a ½ case and look forwarded to checking in over the next 15-20 years with this one.

First time with this wine, and I thought this was very solid. Nice red and black fruits, on the tart side, with very lively acidity (really a pretty high acid wine), and nice persistence. Paired well with a couple of different foods. I thought this was pretty well balanced. The only downside was that I would liked some more secondary characteristics than I got from this. There is plenty of acid structure, and enough tannin too, for this to last several more years, so I'll wait to try the next bottle for at least a couple of years. Hopefully, it will mellow out a bit more and develop some secondaries.

An amazing dinner with lots of Italian wines at DBA (DBA): This drinks like a Bordeaux with a decade on it (as it should, it is Cab, Merlot and CF). The nose has cherries, cassis, dried fruit, cigar tobacco and slight bell peppers notes. A nice complexity, it seems to be at peak. Nice acidity. Long finish. On another night, this would be great, but in this company, it lagged a bit. That's really not fair, but so it goes.

good wine, second bottle of the evening with main course. Mostly a pop and pour unfortunately. Seems as if still a bit tight and acidic, so either needs air or more time in bottle to integrate. Was good, but have a feeling it could be so much better

Into the decanter. Massive amount of sediment. Some reddish color at the edge. The nose shows red fruits, tomato stalk, and tobacco. This really gains depth on the palate with time. Not going to improve substantially from here. Drink over next couple of years.

Still dark in color and starting to show some age. The nose is wonderfully complex with earth, dark fruit, and a rustic edge that makes it distinctively Italian. The palate is a bit light and not as explosive as the nose. Drinking well now and needs a nice decant.

Deep purple color with a red rim; Plum and toasty oak aromas with dark fruit, toasty oak and slight earthy flavors. Needs integration time as the acids are now prominent (perhaps expected for such a young wine). It was really enhanced with the acidic food (a tomato sauce with pasta). Promising and should improve in the bottle.

Delicious with ripe, spicy fruit and tannins that danced across the tongue. Rich and youthful, and could use some more time, but I think I would drink it on the young side.

A Bordeaux blend of 60% Cab Sauv, 20% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot; Very young; give it a decant to open it up. This would benefit from at least two more years in the cellar.

A dark brute at this time, not much going on although after 24 hours it started to integrate enough to give a glimpse of the potential. Needs to sit for a couple of years.

UWS; A mixed set of wines from Italy and France (@ JB): Dark blood red. Concentrated bouquet with black berries, smoke and tobacco. On the palate black and red berries, herbs, chocolate, beautiful acidity and soft, sticky tannin. A mouth full of beautiful wine. A wine to chew on. 91 - 92+
