An excellent simple claret - nothing remotely disagreeable. Medium-bodied, showing its age in a generous way, muted Bordeaux aromatics with flavors of earth, black tea, red and black fruit and a soft mouth feel. A reminder that bargain Bordeaux can turn into something lovely as the years go by.

During a tasting dinner. Medium ruby. Nose of dark fruit, forest floor and quite noticeable toast from the oak treatment. Very correct for a second wine. Easy to drink, nothing rustic or thin here.

CdBdx Gala Dinner 2016 (Pollen): Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of vanilla oak, tobacco leaf, blackcurrant, and whiffs of leafy green herbs. Developed. On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol (12.5%), mildy grippy fine medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of blackcurrant, vanilla oak, tobacco leaf. Medium finish. Good quality. Decent wine, but straightforward and boring. Drink up. 2nd wine of Chateau d'Issan.

Pnp. This has softened a fair bit over the last 6 or so months. Still a fairly dark garnet, good fruit and plenty of oak on the palate but the rough edges are gone and do not really see the structure for longer term aging here. Comes across as rather simple, pleasant but made a bit along the lines of an inexpensive new world Cab. Short to medium finish. Better with food than on its own in my eyes. Drink now.

Consistent note. Brought again to a bbq. I like this wine - it's not a very expressive Bordeaux, and the finish is rather short but it has nice balance and weight / texture and accompanies food very well as it does not force itself into the spotlight. Seems a bit tight, wonder if it will still open more up aromatically, or rather dry out given the robust structure and not abundant fruit. 88-89

Brought 4 bottles to bbq. Light to medium body, medium tannins, dark fruit, forest floor. Worked well with the meat. Otherwise a bit on its own, might not have enough fruit for the structure so would drink now with food.

nose of dark fruit, dark wood and plums - also a touch of roses...Palate is plums, forrest Wood, mushrooms, and tobaco - very dark and weagthy style in particular for a 2. wine. Powerful and intense but with good balance fo tanin and acicdity - a good buy....will improve over the next 10 years at least I guess....

Deep garnet red, beautiful nose of dark cherry, tobacco french oak with a lining of chocolate. Notes of leather can be detected at medium length. Soft & sweet on the initial, firm tannin, quick sharp yet smooth transition into a sophisticated, semi-dry palatte. Slight hint of vegetal. Tannic finish that is rich, long and delicious.

Nice ruby color, still young and could age another couple of years. But already a nice drink. Enjoyed it with meat, and complexity was welcomed. Long tasting.

Appearance: Bright and clear, medium (+) intensity ruby, with paler rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium intensity and developing aromas of blackberry, plum, smoke, liquorice, oak, hints of savory. Palate: Dry, with medium acidity and medium tannin, ripe and fine-grained. Medium in alcohol, medium body with medium intensity flavors of blackberry, plum, cedar, smoke and liquorice. Medium length. Conclusion: Good quality Bordeaux red with reasonable intensity on both nose and palate. The aroma is relatively more complex than the palate, which is showing predominantly fruit and oak characters. Reasonable length, the wine is nevertheless good in balance and enjoyable. Ready to drink now but can benefit from further ageing of another 2-3 years.
