Oh my: let it breathe, you will find blackberry mandarin napoleon, menthol, and a distant hint of tar together with more notable rosemary on the nose.there is some floral nasal hint. Yet, I cannot identify it. Minerality on the tongue with underlying blackberry and Uber ripe plums. Long finish with the slightest astringent, assuring a sublime balance I. A powerful Cab. Yum yum!

Really starting to sing, some of the tannins have softened but still not enough to throw a significant sediment. Cassis, Blackberry, and Black Cherry. Mid shows mild acidity and the finish is velvety with just a whisper of stony earth. Lovely wine.

A very nice "rich and big" California cab that maintains balance between fruit and acidity. Nice elements of secondary aromas like leather, oak, an occasional vegetal note. This is complex and good with food at the same time. Pretty happy with it

Tasted blind in a Cab showdown. Opened six hours before to slowly oxygenate. I absolutely loved this - and recognize that I’ve rated it quite a bit higher than most. But it was full of ripe fruit, both red and black, which gave it a great complexity. It felt elegant and soft. It was the unanimous WOTN, even up against a Bordeaux that was three times the price. I was so shocked I compared them again non-blind and still agree. If I can find more of this for $35, then I’m buying it by the case.

This wine has matured well beyond my expectations. Very good balance of tannins and fruit with hints of cherry in the finish. Even better after a couple days from opening in my wine fridge. Wish I had a couple more bottles in my cellar.

Very impressive Reserve Knights Valley, Sonoma Cab. Full bodied Cab that is nicely structured & well balanced. Bold rich dark juicy fruits that were nicely balanced by mid acidity and the plush & well integrated tannins. Very smooth with a long aftertaste.

First time trying the Knight’s Valley Reserve and clearly a cut above. The standard KV has always been my weeknight go-to cab, but this was a couple points above. Nice flavors, body and depth and tannins under control. Good drinking.

A lovely California cabernet, very well constructed. An excellent daily drinker. Tons of black fruit, nicely integrated tannins and acidity. One of those wines that you say, "Dang, that's really good" every time you take a sip. If you can find it at the ~$35 or even $40 price point, do it.

A great wine for the price but way too new world for my palate. Fruit forward, black as pitch, vanillin, oak, and some residual sugar. Think Austin Hope but $20 cheaper, which makes this a good deal.

Classic sonoma valley nose of ripe black fruits, blackberry, cassis, sugarplum and also chocolate and baking spice. On the palate, medium + body, medium acid and medium - tannin. Finish is chocolate and some greenery. Powerful but not jammy, this is a great crowd pleaser that I can enjoy as well. Really like the QPR here, would definitely re-buy at $35-$40. I think you should let this sit 1-2 more years and it should last 5-10 more.

Despite youth best $35 Cab period. Winery makes it available at 50% discount. I’ve had most vintages since 2012 and it’s a great everyday wine. Good structure dark plum flavor some tannins in the finish. You could hold but at this price why bother drink now.

Four hour slow ox. Deep dark ruby magenta color. Black cherry, licorice, black currant, and marzipan on the nose. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate. Very firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
This has improved significantly from six or seven months ago. Very solid QPR.

A deep ruby, bordering on ink in the glass. I get pronounced aromas of blackberry, cassis, black plum, eucalyptus, oak, coffee and ripe blueberry jam. The palate is super smooth, rich, warm and delightful. Dry and slightly tannic, this full bodied wine has great flavors of ripe black and blue fruits, excellent barrel integration with coffee, oak and vanilla notes to go with medium acidity. The finish is medium (+) in length and quite dry from the persistent yet integrated tannins. A very well balanced wine with great mouthfeel that will drink beautifully till 2030 with wild game, grilled meats, rich cheese platters or just all by itself. 94 points from me make this $42 stunner a 5 star effort. Glad I got a case.
On day 1 pnp, dark fruit with oak, with the tannins sitting a bit rough on the palate, but well made for sure. Very nice at the ~$35 paid. Day 2, this wine shined, silky tannin, full mouth feel, well integrated dark fruit. Day 3, starting to lose some power and concentration. Overall, a very nice wine that will be well served with some extra time.

We have been buying knights valley as a house wine discounted from 30 to 19.99 which is typically silky balanced with fruit and a finish so very excited to score a case of the reserve at a huge discount at 33.00 { marked down from 70 release to 40 at the winery Tasted this at hourly intervals tight with typical beringer knights valley flavor prpfile Opens up significantly with extended decanting . Had a more expensive wine { 2019 teetor totter I also bought from wine access I enjoyed more albeit at a much higher price I bought a case and am not unhappy at this price Strongly sugesst extended decating

The nose opens with ripe cassis, damson plum, and Marionberry fruit in harmony with green cedar, juniper, wood incense, and—upon aeration—underlying earthy tones of graphite and bell pepper. Although initially tightly would, the structure unravels to an archetypal Napa Cab complexity of black fruit, graphite, fresh tobacco, and intense but fine-grained up-valley tannins. After an hour, the wine settles into a comfortable easy chair of old soft leather, sweet cigar box, ground black pepper, and vanilla Crème Brûlée, and—ultimately—finishes on a fragrant bed of berry compote, spearmint, eucalyptus, cocoa and dark chocolate truffle. A great case study for those who don't generally cellar bottles, as the wine still has the vigor of youth while also revealing the wisdom of its age. Will continue to appreciate character over at least the next 5-7 years.

Menu decanted. Very deep dark ruby color. Blackberry, granite, thyme, rose petals, and lilac on the tight, but also very floral nose. Smooth, dry, taut palate, with good, lingering acidity. Very firm, full tannins on the longish finish. This has potential, but needs another year and/or lots of air.

1 of 12. My first of this new vintage. Will reserve a score for later in the case. Promising. Dark fruit, smooth, tasty if a bit generic - but solid for what I paid. First impressions, obv.

On the nose, noticeable oak and ripe dark fruits. It’s clearly a young wine and the grapes are of high quality. Pulled the cork and served within 45 mins.
On the palate, there is a very nice integration of ripe fruits and acidity. The oak and vanilla from the nose are very unpronounced on the palate; very fruit forward. Would have expected sharp tannins for such a young wine but instead is very round. Medium finish. Right up my ally for Cabernet, especially from CA.
I look forward to this wine in 5 years…

Decided to give this a shot in light of the 95 rating from Suckling and 94 from Dunnuck. Dark ruby fruit - blackberry, currants, dark cherry, and plum. Rich flavors of dark berries, some spice, plum, and a mineral component. Fairly long finish but tart - some bing cherry. Decanted for one hour and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time. I’ll refrain from rating this bottle because it clearly needs more time especially with the finish but low 90s if rating. We’ll see how it progresses over the next couple days. I personally don’t see the 94/95 ratings from Suckling and Dunnuck even with more time but hopefully I’m proven wrong. 100% cab.
Pop and pour. This is singing, with excellent soft fruit, full body, and nice elements of herbs and minerality. Great QPR if you can get it around $40.

The wine has a nice bouquet. Very fruity with predominantly blackberry and blueberry fruit. The tannins are quite tight and provide a fair amount of grip. I found this wine to be slightly tart on the finish as well. Finished seemed at best medium.

Having enjoyed many Knight's Valley(s), over the years. I was anxious to see if this was truly a step up from what I have always considered a drinkable, but perfunctory wine. The good news....it is a step up, but not a huge step. The reserve featured good fruit, medium acidity, medium tannin, but a short finish. I do think it's a fair value, in a dollar range where it can be a challenge to get the QPR jst right. Not sure if I will replenish, as I really enjoy their Private Reserve reds...even if they are higher priced. I guess I can just reel off names of other Cabs(Obsidian, Black Stallion, etc), which are more fulfilling. Final verdict...A GOOD wine.....but lacking a compelling reason to seek it.

Deep ruby. On the nose medium plus aromas of blackberry, bramble, blackcurrant, bell pepper, black pepper, toast, sweet tobacco. On the palate the wine is dry with medium plus acidity, medium plus ripe tannins, high alcohol and full body. The flavor intensity is medium plus with blackberry, bramble, blackcurrant, jammy blackberry, black cherry, bell pepper, black pepper, toast, sweet tobacco. The finish is medium. The wine is very good demonstrating complexity, balance and intensity but falls on the finish. Typical Napa Cab.

This ripe and dry 100% Cabernet is a defensible, if unexciting, effort at the perilous California price point of $40-50, a place where - in my experience - good wines fear to tread. I'm not sure if this is a good wine, but it has flavor, balance, and structure (though not originality, depth, or nuance), so... err... it's not a bad wine (and it may get better in a year or two!).
Garnet in color; medium in body; aromas of black cherry, sandalwood, and cedar. Flavors of blueberry, spice cake, and pencil shavings, with a wispy and crunchy finish. 14.5% alcohol. Aside from a few standout vintages back in the day (e.g., 2010), these wines are always a little shallow, but they can be pleasant, in a crowd-pleasing, cool-label, let's-just-drink-and-not-go-broke kind of way. Decant about an hour.
Nose: brûléed cherry, light sassafras, white oak, brown sugar
Mouth: Cassis, blackberry coulis, and creamed black cherry flavors roll through, underpinned by bitter chocolate in the midpalate. Everything dries up on the finish as black tea and sassafras flavors show just ahead of some dried cedar and graphite at the very end as the fruit keeps pushing through. Shows a high energy spine for now, but will be ready in relatively short order.
Overall: A richer version with melted flavors and resonant fruit that’s matched nicely by a lightly structured backend and sweet tannins. Shows lovely depth to the flavors and the medium term aging characteristics make this of interest to a wide swath of drinkers. Drink 2023 - 2030.
92.

Consistently excellent, good value if bought from the Beringer website on sale by the case.

Probably the best KVR I’ve had.
Black fruit, herbal notes, cedar, tobacco, hints of chocolate, has some eucalyptus notes, finishes with balanced acidity. Big tannins, but are balanced.

Deep ruby, opaque.
92.
