Ripe, rich, golden colour; deep, honeyed nose, a bit one-dimensional; big and sweet on the palate, the richness and weight of an Auslese, lovely balancing acidity, exciting but perhaps slightly light flavours of peach, ripe lemon and salted caramel; good but not outstanding length for a wine of this intensity and concentration. So much better than the bottle tasted in July 2011 - don't know what was wrong there.

This is very ripe, packed with tropical fruit, sweet, this is a desert wine really, and doesn't have the acidity to make it work elsewhere in a meal. Delicious though, and a good buy.

O, mein Gott! This is one of the best Ausleses ever drunk. Why Franz Künstler named this wine as Spätlese? Bought after Mlermontov's recommendation. Thanks! Found at € 13.35 only!

Very broad and ripe, more together than prior bottles. I’d say this is close to peak as it develops caramel and brown butter notes.

More liek an Auslese GK, lacks elegance a bit, delicious and fine value though.

A private lunch (at home): Big wine, Auslese-like weight, but is somewhat deficient in structure - like many RHeingau 2006's are.

Wine Education Service - Classic German Rieslings (LSE): Gold tinged with green.
Sweet grapy nose, heady with a feeling of the countryside.
Good balance, a beautiful wine, raisins, refreshing, great length.
