Decided to open one tonight even though these are still quite young. Paolo makes traditional chianti, wine that needs time in the bottle. 10 years is really a minimum. At 7 this is just starting to show its potential. Marvelous with salami and sausages. Needs a bit of air time to bloom. I will hold my other bottles.

Délicieux. Le vin est complètement fondu à ce stade, de constitution plutôt légère avec une finale pas très longue, mais une belle finesse de tanins, un parfum subtil, une buvabilité optimum : grand plaisir pour un très agréable moment

{cork, 13.5%} A dry, dustily tannic, very savoury sangiovese, that while it doesn't lack ripeness, still seems rather thin for flavour (this is 'Classico'? Avoid the plain DOC, I'd say). Barely medium-bodied, perhaps the short finish is a mixed blessing! On the other hand, it does make a good pasta accompaniment; not really picking up in flavour or weight, but marrying well enough with the bacon & tomato-based sauce. In this environment, it's easy enough to reach for a second glass. If you want a 'cocktail' wine, look elsewhere.

Ruby coloured, with earthy tones, showed traditional chianti oxidized scents, strong in the beginning, but that faded aproximately 30 minutes in the glass, revealing interesting pine flavour, tannins were well developed, with high acidity and light body. In the nose it never showed the power that more modern wines usually do, but after the oxidized scent went away it demonstrated complexity and balance. A good wine to go with food, particularly pasta (yes, it is a cliche but works well) and meat with not so strong taste, like filet mignon, roast beef, etc.

Garnet. Light, some cherry initially but ends up with savoury, dry tannins. Not as good as a previous bottle that I've had which seemed to have more flesh to it and had more dark and sour cherry elements. This was a bit disappointing.

Improved in the decanter throughout dinner, but was drinking best when I came back to it 3 hours later, still in the decanter. Tart red fruit, pretty dry.

Popped and poured. Initially showed nice, ripe, round red fruits and cherry, but as it took in air secondary tobacco, spice, and cigar box aromatics and flavors moved in on the mid palate and the finish. For only $12, this is fantasticly soft and flavorful entry level Chianti. A definite re-buy!

When first opened, I found this to be pretty simple and thin but within about an hour, it gained a bit of weight and opened up quite nicely with some slight toasted oak mixing in with the fruit. For $12, this was a nice deal and was a great match for pizza night.

80 because it is a "good" wine. For the record subtle AND euro = opposite of my preferred style.
Pale garnet color, weakish nose of sour cherry and raspberry and rubbery old world earth. Thin-bodied and green tasting with almost no finish but for a hint of lingering fruit.
Maybe it's shut down but I doubt it ever opens up. Unremarkable but still it had some austere class to it; if a glass of it came with a fixed priced Italian lunch I wouldn't much notice it but wouldn't complain either.
DAY 2: got bigger -- not huge but big enough to develop more of a nose and more of a finish. Definitely better with some air. I raised the score 3 point.

Tasted this one blind ... and never imagined that it would turn out to be a Chianti Classico. Medium ruby with garnet rim. Pronounced aromas of oak - smoke & vanilla combined with red fruit - raspberries and cherries. Palate dominated by medium red fruit, medium (+) acidity and medium (-) tannins. Medium length. Overall a good wine, however, I am not sure if this is a good representative of Chianti Classico. Had it solo with no food. Shouldn't have I? Cheers!

Medium garnet in the glass, with low brilliance, this wine has an immediately familiar nose of black cherries, creamy red fruit - like the Domaine Cheze Saint-Joseph Cuvee Ro-Ree 2005. Beautiful beautiful soft cherry. N1: bit o pepper. N3 - beautiful fruit, real black cherry. Light body, great mp - more fruit. Minute long finish. A tiny bit too much pepper for me - I had to really work to get past it into the fruit. med/med+ tannins. Med++ acid. After ~20 minutes decanting, the pepper subsides a bit, leaving pure, delicious, real fruit and great acid, med tannin.
Pairing: paired well with chicken, but honestly was great by itself. 90.

At $16/half, I'm already not too happy with the price point, but heck, it was just me and some roast chicken for dinner, what would I do with a whole bottle on a weeknight?
In the glass the wine was medium-garnet, with low brilliance. Then I took a whiff and completely left the room for a moment. I was back in my old room, with one of my best friends and a bottle of '05 Dom. Cheze Saint Joseph (Ro-Ree). Light ruby. Stawberries, cherries and raspberries with a pleasant spiciness on the moderately-complex nose. Smoothe, clean, slightly sweet on the palate, with red fruit tastes. Medium bodied. Ready to drink, and will not make old bones. Not a sceaming buy at $20, but a pleasant, refined, food-friendly wine, a good match for pasta. Lithe, elegant little Chianti. I might be biased because I drank it over a beautiful dinner at Buon Ricordo, Sydney with Jerming, Evelyn and Adeline. Strawberry and cherry drops on the nose, slightly candied cherry on the palate with the tinniest bit of herb at the back of the mouth. Good fresh acid, a touch of oak, very balanced, silky smooth. This seemed rather one-dimensional at first, but gained some complexity in the form of flinty mineral accents and a touch of spice after time in the decanter. Perfect, perfect pairing with our herb-stuffed veal.
