Crimson in color with slight bricking on the edge of the glass. Red fruits, nutmeg, cloves and earth on the nose. 14.2% ABV. Beautiful texture, perfect acidity and exceptional balance. Tea, cherry, mushrooms, pomegranate, sassafras and cranberry on the palate. At 13 years of age this wine still has great concentration of fruit. The finish is endless. Drink over the next 1-3 years.

Mature deep red fruits. Perfectly balanced. Seemless with a great full midpalate. Fully resolved tannins but just enough structure to knit evrything together. Succulent and sweet ripe fruit. Graceful and georgous. Another great 2001 Rochioli.

This is a really nice, complex wine that went through a great transformation during the time we opened this bottle until we finished it. First of all, the color is much darker then I was expecting. A lot of the pinots I have had recently are all fairly transparent but this wine was dark ruby red and nearly opaque. The nose was initially quite earthy and reminded me instantly of some top notch Burgundy. After a while, black cherry fruit emerged from the background and really started to take over and dominate. The same thing happened with the flavors with an earthy dryness at first that eventually gave way to really nice cherry fruits with a bit of a tobacco touch near the finish. Acidity levels were good and texture was very smooth throughout and the finish is nice and long. This was the first time I have had a single vineyard designate bottling from Rochioli and while it may take me another 4 or 5 years to get my own allocation, it will be worth the wait.

Tasted March 29, 2008. Opened and served immediately. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of black cherries, berries and potpourri. Flavors of black cherries, a hint of currants and some rich berries on the finish. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full body. Drink or hold.

We decanted the wine for a short while before drinking from the cellar. Beautiful, clear garnet color. Dark cheeries. Nicely structured wine that was very balanced. Tannins were well integrated and the mouthfeel on this was lush. Nice finish. This wine has lots of life in it and it will very interesing to see it develop over the next several years.

Popped and poured, drinking over a 3 hour period. No sediment to speak of. Beautiful garnet color, extremely clear. Georgeous nose of ripe cherries, cola and spice (nutmeg and clove combination). Very seductive nose. On the palate, very concentrated and rich, some sweetness with a touch of tart fruit and a bitter element that adds lift. The structure is buried in the fruit, but you get fine tannins on the long finish. The nose is very Burgundian (Vosne Romanee spice?), but the palate is definitely CA as it has more weight and sweet concentrated fruit. This matched well with grilled salmon (but what Pinot doesn't?), and is drinking perfectly right now. Another great Rochioli!

Darker fruit profile and softer acidity than most other Rochilois i've had. Perfect balance and in its prime drinking window.

French Bakery Sonoma Pinot Noir BYO Dinner (The French Bakery, Kane Concourse, Bay Harbor Islands, FL): David's wine. Astringent, improved with aeration(Vinturi aerator. Disappointing, we expected a lot more.

After a bottle of 96 Pichon Lalande this was very nice. Still some remaining tannins which evolved over time. I like this wine and would get more.
