  • All of these notes are based on a glass and half, sipped very slowly and shared by a generous friend after about 18 hours open (and re-corked in fridge.) Don't pay much attention to my "score" here- as with my recent experience with Mugneret-Gibourg, this price point isn't something I engage with often in wine, and so I can't easily compare it to similarly-valued offerings (especially with the secondary market at play); what's more, even just considering the amazing quality of the wine alone, it DEFINITELY needs at least a few more years to blossom, in my opinion, to be worth the price of admission.

    Long story short, though: wow! This is gorgeous and extremely nuanced, balancing latent power and intriguing complexity. The only real issue I had with the wine was that it was surprisingly shy on the nose, feeling very tightly-wound (even after nearly a full day open). I still got plenty of VIVID flinty minerality, really that super hardcore gunflint, buttressing a core of lemon zest, some almond, and white floral shades. I loved that it was powerful without resorting to that softer kind of "orchard fruit" I've experienced in some white Burgundies, that almost champagne-adjacent apple tone; this was all precise, flinty, uber-fresh and svelte. The palate definitely had more sense of "weight" and perhaps ripeness than the nose let on; a beautiful creamy texture with more lemon curd, some faint vanilla, and a long, extremely almond-rich finish that was my favorite part by far (I LOVE that almond tone in good chard, my favorite note I get sometimes.) It reminded me of young Kistler quite a bit, just a little less "powdery" and a little more "flinty" if that makes sense!

    I want to rate this higher, for the quality. I've definitely had several bottles of Chard that felt VERY similar, at least 80% of the quality (sometimes even more) for about 1/4 the average price. That said, this will be monstrously good with another 5, even ten years on it, once it continues to unfurl its minerally armor. I'm extremely excited to potentially try more of their wines someday.

  • Au premier nez, il apparait comme minéral et fruité, et l’agitation renforce les notes de fruits. Belle aisance en bouche, le vin se goûte vraiment très bien en exprimant une race indéniable, un caractère particulier issu de ce climat des Porusots. Très long final avec beaucoup de tension, et une capacité à vieillir pendant presque deux décennies à coup sûr.

  • Heidi's Redux at local fav STG. CV, BE,KB,DD,LI & JG. What a night! Brad brought an amazing horizontal of four standout 2019 Comtes Lafon Meursault 1ers He only listed 3 and w/o first seeking approval added a 4th. We love rule breakers! What can I say about Lafon? Well, it's become my hands down favorite white Burg producer, for my palate. I love it for its ethereal nature and top-notch fruit. Brad calls Lafon "class in the glass". I couldn't agree more. Tonight's Porusots was true to Lafon but with a little more power than the rest. Still though nothing over the top. Look, I could be happy drinking any of these as they all are as close to perfect as chardonnay gets for me. Dam, I'd be happy to revist any of these if opportunity presents itself. A stellar lineup! Did I mention lafon is my fav white Burg producer? :).

  • Heidi's Gang: Seriously Folks (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Pale gold color. Decanted for 1 hour. Drank a glass over 2 hours. The most powerful and the most distinct of the quartet of 1er's tonight. Showing the most reduction, though not excessive by any means. This had a wonderful swampy, briny, earthy ocean infused sea spray nose and palate. With gunflint, lemon, full bodied and powerful, long with a viscous finish; pear, tons of mineral denisty and saline intensity on the palate too. This really shows the brine and power with a less of the signature elegance of the others.

  • precise chalky tension filled with. Still young and needed a nice decant but there’s a spicy focus in the fruit that shows great promise. Lots of fresh acidity and citrus. Quite nice on a hot day

  • A very good vintage of Lafon's Poruzots. Its got a touch of the beguiling nature of 2018, with a chalky edge. Less ripe than expected. Suggested musical accompaniment - Eric Alexander's Nightlife in Tokyo.
