  • Delicious nose - pure earthy blackberry. Way more savory on the palate - almost northern Rhone-like. Olives, iron, blood and bramble take center stage. Tannins are powdery; just medium-bodied. Good, but really savory.

  • surprisingly a very pale and translucent color, but it opens up with this beautiful bouquet of floral / rose petal notes that went superbly with roasted lamb. the first of three bottles, I'm excited for the next one, this did not disappoint and agree that these carry exceptional qpr.

  • Que c'est bon !
Un jus pure, plein de fruits rouges éclatants avec une belle structure en arrière plan. Il ne s'agit pas d'un vin bien complexe mais c'est tellement délicieux et délicat. Absolument dans ma palette ! j'adore

  • Opened last night. Strong dark yet translucent ruby. Black cherry evident in the nose. Smoke and spice, too., along with forest floor. Ripe but not sweet fruit in the mouth, to go with earthy flavors. Seems a tad green. Strong backbone. Steer clear of this for awhile, it still needs a lot of time. Least impressive of my bottles so far. 5-12-15-8: 90/100.

  • Great Burgundy & great value

  • What a thoughtfully made wine. It began with red fruits, some forest floor, and bergamot and put on weight and depth over about two hours. The nose got increasingly savory and the palate grew richer with sweet soil mixed with gently tart cherries. The balance is great and the wine is deep but light on its feet. I’m excited to see what this looks like on, say, its tenth birthday. 92++ from me.

  • New Release Burgundy Tasting (Chicago.wine - Glenview IL): Walk around tasting. Rich red and black berries throughout with background spice support. Ripe while balanced with a long-ish, bright finish.

  • From magnum, a delightful experience. Other previous reviewers are spot on. The wine has magnificent presence, cut, and balance and is a steal at this price point. Definitely agree that it is one to buy in quantity.

  • PNP. Didn't want to drink another bottle so soon after the last one, but I like this so much I couldn't resist. Initially, had a kind of metallic, hollow note that wasn't present in my first two bottles; not as rich and full. With an hour of air, however, that largely disappeared, and this has begun to approach my experience with previous bottles. Full ruby, not opaque. Nose is very effusive, filled with cherry, black cherry and violet aromas. In the mouth, this is quite rich, savory, and downright pretty. Got to like this; it is an absolute steal at the price and much better than many red burgs at several times the price. Really hard to beat for the money. 4-13-17-9: 93/100.

  • Others that are having positive experiences with this wine are spot on. There is a balance, cut, and poise that this wine has that rests on the razor's edge. This is light and has intense flavors of tart red fruits, with scents forest floor & potpourri. This is a wine to buy in bulk...

  • Really quite excellent. Has real presence and character. Medium ruby, but actually stains the glass. Pretty, deep cherry aromas. Shines even more in the mouth, with a rare richness, depth, complexity and deep fruit. This is quite a value; perhaps one of the best Burgundies for the money I have ever had. 5-12-18-9: 94/100.

  • Tasted over 2 hrs
    -med dark red purple
-ripe black cherry cassis wet stone
-med acidity, med/med- weight ripe berry cassis, ripe med/med- tannins
-this is a bit less structured, riper and less rustic than most vintages, reminiscent of '09, very young but still open

  • Fine and rather narrow, with a linear refined stately structure. Aromatics are rather shy at this point. Crystalline red fruited, mostly cherry with some cranberry and rhubarb elements. Just a hint of reduction on the nose. Finish with some chalky Stoney notes. Very good—has excellent upside.

  • Opened last night. Good then, better now. Fine cranberry color, not quite opaque. This is a real pleasant surprise at this price point. Nose is lovely, with excellent spice, cherries and flowers. Just bursting with character. In the mouth, this is a real show-off. Ripe, grippy, chewy and lengthy, this has hallmarks of greatness. With two more bottles, I'm excited to see if it can fulfill the potential it appears to possess. But even now, it is well worth the price of admission. 5-13-18-9: 95/100.

  • I was eager to try this and wasn't disappointed. This is warm and inviting from the start, immediately greeting you with youthful caramel and cocoa overtones along with dark spices, earth, and potpourri that lend a touch of smoldering richness and blend seamlessly with the perfectly ripe and deeply concentrated fruit. There is no hint of over ripeness or excess extraction here, just a lingering sense of restraint and refinement. There’s also a sneaky sense of freshness, buoyed in no small part by the well-integrated acids and mineral-laced satiny textures. This flows so gracefully across the palate. The overall impression is of a wonderfully deep and expressive SLB that should reward at least mid-term cellaring while drinking well in its youth.

  • "Very nice glass of wine. Light like feathers, stringent like a rock and with a huge structure. Sour red berries and a lovely tartness of bitter cherry-stones.,. Wow!

  • Tasted horizontally with other 2019s from Guillemot and this was in top tier although not unanimous. A dark, spiced and rich nose deceives while it drinks bright, fresh and acidic. Looking forward to checking in on this in a few years.

  • This is very refreshing. 3 hour decant. Medium body with good fruit. Glad I bought a case. Curious to see how this willl evolve. 92+ for now, I expect it to get better.... fingers crossed. I think I like this better than the 2018 which is also very good.

  • Until a few years ago, only very few Savigny specialists knew about the 1er Cru site Aux Serpentières in Savigny-lès-Beaune. The reputation of Aux Serpentières grows year after year with the work of the Guillemot brothers, who are in the process of moving it to the forefront of Savigny-lès-Beaune. The site, which is very rich in marl, is located above the Rhoin river, in the middle of the sites of Aux Clous, Aux Gravains (where there is also a very good wine of the Guillemots), Aux Pointes and Aux Guettes. Most of the vines there on the 1.27-acre parcel are around 65 years old and were planted by Pierre Guillemot, the grandfather and founder of the winery, who died in 2019.

    Color
    Deep cherry red

    Nose
The wine balances the ripeness and dark fruitiness of the vintage with tremendous density, gossamer tannin and deep minerality. This "1er Cru" again shows that so fantastic balance of an earthy pithiness and the floating light elegance and freshness. And the pithiness is a guarantee for quality and longevity, especially in the interplay with the lively acidity. The nose reveals notes of raspberries and wild strawberries, sweet cherries and beet, but also dark chocolate, some pepper, blood orange, tobacco and a little charcoal smoke.

    Palate
On the palate, a subtle sweetness and a contrasting earthy and tinty note combine with the herbal notes of the co-fermented raps. All of this is wrapped up by the fine tannin already mentioned and the lively, electrifying combination of acidity and minerality. It has greatness and is almost unique in this price segment.
