Spanish fun day one (N&J's place, Canberra): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas, slight peach, sulphur, saline notes, a very slight off note - like rubber - is a touch confronting; this is sealed under plastic cork which may be part of the challenge, also a little almond meal. On the palate it's quite lemon sherbet, a tiny spritzy note, tends to medium plus intensity acidity, drying texture. Meh.
Note - had the rest of this bottle later with barbecued octopus and the off note had dissipated, the citric and acid notes, as well as the slight salinity really worked well. As it was a sunny day we almost felt we were in San Sebastian

Light gold with a little spritz. At first there’s a little funk, but it blows off pretty quickly. Then we get into some really fresh lemon-lime soda and Asian pear aromas, the scent of flowers on the breeze and a healthy dose of wet gravel. On the palate the wine is zippy and fresh with high acid; mouthwatering and fruity. No complaints, but no fireworks either, and that’s okay!

Opened after being sealed with a vacuvin and stored in the fridge. The effervescence has completely dissipated, but I am left with a delicious wine with the same flavors as the first night and no signs of decline aside from the faded spritz. Finished during dinner prep.

More of a grown-up Txakolina, without much of a spritz, but still screaming of its varietal nature. Huge bursts of lime. lemon, mineral, oyster shell and salinity. Not super complex, but it's a burst of delicious that demands simple grilled shrimp or a la plancha, seared scallops or anything else in that general range. Drink outside... in the sun, don't age, pop and enjoy. Ameztoi if you want some spritz.

Light yellow / green, not much on the nose, green apple, some light peach and grapefruit, strong acidity. This is a light and fresh wine that is perfect in summer, with white fish, light tapas and vegetables. Brings me back to San Sebastian. Did not score 90 or above because it is pretty one dimensional, but this is a great example of a good Txakoli

Fruity nose. Mostly apple. Light mouth. Dry medium acid finish. Low ABV. Simple wine, perfect for hot days.

Green apples and herbs. Dry, fresh and elegant. Dry but long finish. Not much complexity.

Probably a bit more complex and intense than I initially wrote, but otherwise I stand by my previous note.

fruit is riper in tone (vaguely floral and tropical) even though the structure is still precise and bright. less noticable Co2

Really crisp, refreshing with a citrus pop. Perfect on a hot summer day. Need to drink more of these...such good bang for the buck.
