  • Young but delicious Mountain fruit. Fruit and spice blend nicely with acid, but really needed a long decant to open up. I went 4 hours, but could have used half a day. I have 4 more bottles, and won’t touch again for a year or two. This one is gonna age out wonderfully.

  • 2nd of 6 bottles and first since April 2022. Bumping this up a point since I last tasted. Overall, similar notes and color descriptors as cab lover below. I actually opened this on Friday and slow ox’ed in bottle for 6-7 hours. Had 1 small glass on Friday, but drank the rest of the bottle on Saturday and it was great. Glad I have more of these.

  • Very good Cabernet but it held back a bit versus last time. Grainy dark fruit, tobacco, slate, leather and graphite. Even after 4 hours this was a little tight. Probably just bottle variation as my last bottle was super expressive versus this.

  • Coravined a few glasses. Holy heck this is so delicious with DELICIOUS mountain fruit. Can’t put the glass down. And all I’m thinking is when to get a 6 pack of this ‘19. Rich, flamboyant, mountain character, herbs, graphite, bit boozy but eh I’m enjoying it. Hints of some minerals, vanilla and slate in there too. Good acid, good plushy finish.

  • Classic Howell Mountain

Mineral and dense fruit, graphite, and dried sage.

  • Pnp'd for Carol....she's doing backflips through the house...95 she says!

Cork is solid, color is dark opaque purple, nose is rich, juicy cassis and some slight briar component. First sips are vibrant, juicy and dark red/blue and black fruit with high energy and a long sweet finish. Make no mistake, the first hour this is THE definition of a Napa fruit bomb. 95.......

2nd hour and with Stouffer's frozen lasagna....this one settles in a bit, loses some of its big, juicy fruit and calms down to a mere 94. Balance sets in at this point. Tannins are smooth, silky and integrated.
Hints of violets and rose petals emerge at hour 3 on the nose. The palate stays the course with great acidity balanced with the fruit. Perfumed blackberry reigns with this one, along with some sweet tobacco leaf. These notions carry through the nose and onto the palate the whole time. A very nice Napa Valley Cab.....a solid 94.

  • Thinking about buying more to lay down in light of the 95 rating from WA and Suckling. Purple fruit - blackberry, currants, dark cherry, and some plum. Smooth mid-palate with solid depth/concentration. Nice flavors of cocoa, some spice, cassis, and a graphite component. Fairly long finish. Decanted for four hours and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time but drinking well after the decant despite its youth especially for a Howell Mountain cab. According to both WA and Suckling, best after 2025 which I can’t argue to let it open-up/develop further; however, I enjoyed this bottle with a decent decant. 94 for me at this stage but the 95 rating makes sense with a little more time. 100% cab.

  • Pretty ruby to purple color. Captivating on the nose and palate. Muddled mountain blackberry, plums and cherries. Graphite, pepper with Crushed vanilla bean and smooth earth. So approachable in its youth, excellent texture and mouthfeel. Sweet tannins with chocolatey finish. Even in its youth this is so darn good!

  • I decided to try one of these, even though early. I did a 2 hour decant. Very good wine. I will wait awhile before opening another or trying one of the True vineyard wines.

  • Got my delivery last week and wanted to check in on this. 1st of 6 bottles - leaving my True and Immigrants to slumber longer. Did a splash double decant. Bottle threw off some sediment.

Nose and taste is classic Outpost. TRB written all over it. Dark purple fruit, still a bit of tannin present. Mouth staining. Went well with pizza.

Overall, I'd wait another 3-6 months before trying your first bottle. My girlfriend and I both enjoyed it despite its youth. Glad we have more bottles to see the evolution over the years.
