Sun served it in bottle this time, opened it 1 hour before for serving, still shy in nose but a lot of tertiary aroma coming out, mushroom, herbs, dark brick red colour, bitterness aftertaste. Classic!

Sun invited us and pair this wine for the wonderful dinner. However, he decanted this fragile old wine and we just found the subtle nose of earthy mushrooms, smooth palate, soft structure with little bitterness after taste.

WB Boys Weekend; 10/14/2021-10/17/2021 (Highlands NC): My wine, and it's a little disappointing. I bought this at release packed in straw! This was brooding, and not giving up much aromatically, and on the palate. The fruit was dark, with traces of dark soil, and really, to me, not a ton else going on, maybe a little spice and cologne. The Beauxmonts from the same mixed case was so much better!

2526/4016 Deep color intensity. Medium+ aroma of mint, leroy perfume, leather, game, medicinal herb, animal. Drinking with DRC and HJ 97 echezeaux, this Leroy is more mature. After aeration, aroma became more pronounced. more brown and green, smoke, brushwood, earth, spice. lots of green pepper.
Mouth coating palate with great concentration and broad. Rich and full body. Can feel the little grain of tannin. High acidity.

This wine is drinking quite a bit younger than the 90 CV in the next glass. More primary and has not developed the secondary notes yet. This still has some vegetal and green to work off. Signature Leroy spice and texture. Great wine. Very nice with a long life ahead.

Five Decades of Leroy (Charlie Bird): More fruity on the nose but also has a pleasant leafiness and soil that the '90'does not. Very comparable to the '01 Beaux Monts. Good wood hanging on to keep it youthful and sexy. Striking and intense on the palate. Less expression than recalled.

Red Burgundies With Allen Meadows (Eleven Madison Park): Again, so expressive and beautiful, complex aromatics spanning wild earth and stalky greens. Greater than or equal to the nose on the DRC Riche. Raspberries and cherries with nice spice. Soft and unique. Tannins are pretty big on the palate at first but eventually yield to an expansive and flavorful mouthful. Tremendous on both nose and palate. Making an honest case for WOTN.

Completely closed on the nose. Barely a bit of dark fruit and spice. Smooth, well integrated with nice balance on the palate with dark fruit and beefy notes. Shorter finish and just a tad dry. I was expecting this to be much better.

Favre 3.0 Friday Night.: Four vintages of Clos Vougeot. 1988: A total stud, and simply awesome. 1990: Forward, a touch ripe, but utterly delicious. 2001 (two bottles): A very nice wine, that isn't showing off right now. Good but more to come? 1995: Very good, a touch dry.

Noticeable difference in palate weight in my view between the Leroy GCs and the villages/1ers served tonight. This had more weight and depth and was just plain lovely!

Wow, this is gorgeous and ready with a heady, amazing nose of black minerals and very dark cherries. On the palate, the wine glides over the tongue with a great silkiness and then the magnificent flavors of dark, mature cherries and black minerals kick in. The finish is finely concentrated and quite complex. This seems ready and is a joy to drink with the right food. Wow, again!

Medium ruby with some development at the edges. Fragrant with rose tones and other early secondary notes. Nice weight with underlying sappiness and very good fruit. Tannins are surprisingly resolved and this is drinking well for a '95 Grand Cru. Not profound, but very, very good and not at all burly as some '95s can be.

Drank at my wedding, August 18th 2007. An excellent bottle that will make you change your mind about Leroy and Clos de Vougeot... but I wouldn't run out to find the current sticker price either.

Top Flight Burgundy in DC - Respects to President Ford (Washington DC - Cafe 15): The '95 is much more evolved than the '96. Where the fruit dominates the '96, the cedar, tobacco, and black tea dominate the '95. There is a lot going on in this wine and it provides an incredible example of secondary Burgundian characteristics. The soft and developed pinot texture lulls the taster and then the flavor hits. The iron fist in the velvet glove...

Drinking like a star! Excellent balance. Incredible nose of earth, mushroom, wet leaves and strawberry. Perhaps the chalky tannins are the reason others feel this needs a little more age. It's perfect for me right now.

Not recognizable flaws. Not giving much aromatically with red fruit that’s tiring. (1659/4016)

Classic Leroy in every way. Lots of ripe, dark fruit with a lovely polished mouthfeel. Tired a bit with air but none of the typical 95 hardness here.

A bit dirty, lots of earth, evolves nicely in the glass but not as refined as the other Leroy reds today.

Mature Burgundy tasting at Range Restaurant - Leroys, Ann Gros, Arnoux, Rouget and Vogue (Range Restaurant, Washington D.C.): Decadent nose of sweet vibrant red fruits, strawberry and raspberry, sweet spices, mushroom, caramel and earth. Subtle sweet palate, bright acidity and lovely finish. It is a sensual and seamless wine.
