Mystery white at VLG lunch at Jason's. Floral nose, pretty easy to pick out as some kind of Rhone varietal. Whetstone and Jason both pegged it as Viognier, so I guess that says something about its typicity. I thought it showed better the next day, with pear/peach/tropical fruit, but this is still slightly out of balance for me, with some heat. The oak has integrated, so that complaint about the first bottle is overcome.

VLG Does Blind Pinot Noir, From Anywhere 2003-2005: Served Blind: Guessed Cali Viognier but thought there might be some Marsanne in there. I liked this. Smelled great. The wine is probably nearing its end. Not enough acid to sustain it.

VLG Does Pinots from 2003-2005 Blind (Jason Hagen's office): Served blind. Nose shows cotton candy and floral notes. Floral and Rhoney with some wax characters. On the pretty side. Guessed Viognier. Fatter and less acidic that I usually like my whites but this isn't sweet or too ripe.

I don't like this nearly as well as I like the regular bottling..it may just be that this bottling needs time. Lots of toasted oak on the palate that hides the fruit more than it should. Still, the acidity keeps this drinkable. I wish I had more to be able to track it over time.

You could taste peach and vanilla on the nose. Hits you right away. A nice wine.
