Two weeks in France; 4/12/2024-4/24/2024: Very Burgundian, Vosne-like with spicy dark fruit. Some new-school stem use and crunchy dark red fruit with a solid backbone.

In the bouquet primary red berries like strawberries. Same on the palate, also cherries, good acidity and length. The wine will improve with a few more years of cellaring. 90 - 91

Tuesday Night Double Blind $60+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Cloudy see through ruby; sexy nose, violets, roses, hint of reduction, whole cluster, tea and mushroom, lots of blue and red fruit with a slightly bitter stem flavor; a really dynamic wine whose flavors seemed to refract every time you went back to it, there was a certain grace and elegance that puts it in a higher tier than many of the other wines across globe that share many of these same flavors and character due to the winemaking process; called '18 Cristom Cuvee Louise, eager to try more from this producer.

This wine was an absolute joy. Exploding out of the glass with high toned aromatics - floral, perfume, bright red cherry and raspberry, a hint of reduction, some spice. Palate showed well balanced acidity, soft texture, sweet candied fruit. Blind this got a range of calls - Sonoma Coast (Williams Selyem), Oregon (Cristom), Cote du Beaune. This was my wine and I thought it was Oregon; it could also remind me of some very elegant modern Burgundies e.g. Berthau Gerbet. Really pretty and am curious what direction it evolves with age.

Mid ruby. Very aromatic when opening the bottle. Bundles of sweet raspberry, a little vanilla and blackberry funkiness. Some spice and floral notes with time. Elegant palate, light with low alcohol and medium+ acidity. Good concentration of sweet fruit despite the lightness. A little tannic grip lingered on the tongue along with a long finish, and some spritz that I was less keen on.
Not especially complex but a nice wine. Reminded me more of NZ than Burgundy. I don’t think it lives up to the hype, but I’m nonetheless looking forward to trying the single vineyard wines in a year or two.

Popped by first of 6 just to see what we have. Recommend at least an hour decant. Was a bit muted/smoky initially. After it opened up, beautiful pure strawberry, black tea, and red floral scents took over. After 2 hours, was a dead ringer for 1er Cru Burg. Will hold off on opening my remaining 5 bottles for another year at least to see where this goes, but if you want to open one now, they are a real treat.

Finally got to try one of these, all thanks to the extreme generosity of Robert Dentice. Wow, wish I had more of this! It harkens to some of my favorite red wine producers of all time. Super dry finish! Some cafe au lait—I’m thinking here of the barrel toast hitting ripe fruit. 2020 made a warmer Enderle and Moll Pinot as well, so curiuos what a colder vintage would yield here at Wasenhaus. Big sweet raspberry and a bit of alluring VA. Sweet basil and violet candy aromas. Stays very cool despite fruit concentration and has some Enderle and Moll-style classic Black Forest sweet asphalt aromas. Pretty great, reminds me of Cecil Tremblay a bit, too. That's likely the pristine fruit and a bit of stems/whole cluster. Gets me into this chocolate in red raspberry coulis sort of place. Mmm!

Bryant's Send Off Party (Noreetuh): Especially cool from both vintage and altitude. Lightly herbal. Opulent but thin. Perhaps better in one or two days. 90-91+
