  • Inviting, earthy nose of bright red fruit , forest floor, petrichor, leather, cola, pipe tobacco, and licorice, superbly balanced palate featuring loads of ripe red cherry and fresh raspberries supported by flavors of white pepper, cherry cola, clove, and cinnamon, full mouthfeel, creamy and supple, powdery tannins, very long finish with a bit of cinnamon heat at the conclusion. Perfect with Seared Duck, Potatoes fried in Duck Fat, and Roasted Broccoli.

  • It’s a wine I typically love, but it’s not yet showing those qualities. Right now it’s a solid, young Pinot Noir that covers the bases very well, but it doesn’t distinguish itself. Nothing wrong with drinking it now, but with a little more time it might come around to something better and more memorable.

  • Consistency is evident with this particular bottling, and ‘19 truly shimmers and glows. There’s tension, elegance and true sexiness. Cherry cola, wet earth, sassafras, crumbling rock and licorice. Feminine, but with some muscle and a well-framed, medium palate. The finish sails on and on. Even better than the gorgeous’18. So enjoyable today, yet has what is required to age. A little more transparent, with all of this wonderful staying power and a balanced middle. Drink now - 2032.

I live in Sonoma County and am surrounded by many a Pinot from Russian River Valley. This is almost post-modern in its feminine ways, yet has the requisite nuance and staying-power. It reminds me of a hybrid of both Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley. Truly classic.

  • Read both of the other notes which describe the wine better than I could. I'm in the middle, agree this vintage is the lesser vs previous. It's not as 'fat', and unfortunately not as complex. The balance is excellent, it drinks well now (and I shall drink up my purchases). With Dehlinger and Swan Trenton (long collected) I've realized 2 things: a) not to expect 'bottle bouquet', new sensory experiences as with Burgundies or old Bordeaux, b) finding the timing. To be clear I've never been concerned about the wine going over the hill or missing the top, just about not waiting for Godot. There is nothing not to like about this, also no reason to hold it (in my view). Score? I'm in the middle, trying to recall all the past vintages without rereading my own reviews.
9/6 Forgot to update vis a vis '2d half' after overnight Ar. Wine has displayed more richness, better finish, more complexity. Updated score 91 to 92 based on 2d half. These are very enjoyable now and I've finished the 2016's. Hmm.

January 2023 - Have drunk 4 bottles, same note except any doubts of the score are gone.

  • A nice mix of savory red and blue fruits with a touch of earth and mushroom. Seems almost like a slightly-ripe Oregon Pinot, in a good way. drinking well and nicely in its youth, but has the stuffing to last for 2-3 years from here.

  • Uncorked, poured and serially tasted over a two-hour period, this medium ruby Pinot, reticent at first, finally unveils a nice aromatic profile after the first hour. Combining black and red fruit that is framed with Asian spices, licorice, rhubarb and black tea, it is a medium-bodied Pinot with fresh acidity, seamless alcohol (14.5%), subtle wood and medium sweet tannins. The flavors mirror the nose, adding accents of sage and cocoa. Solid in the middle and closing with a medium-length finish, this is an enjoyable Goldridge offering, but it does not measure up to most of its elderly brethren. Drink now-2027.
