The nose is complex and very expressive, displaying layered plum and black fruit with earth toned notes of flint and wood ash. The fruity intensity of the nose softens to a more elegant expression on the tongue. The fruit is balanced and integrated with fine tannins and supported by excellent freshness. Notes of mint and cocoa appear in the mouth and follow on into the long finish.

92-93 Lots of phenolic material, ripe and somewhat grapey. But lots of redeeming freshness to balance it out. Nit my preferred style of wine, but I am curious how it may age given nice freshness.

Day 1: Natural cork. 14.5% alcohol. Got these for $70 so have to pop one in case I need to buy more. Spices, blue currants, bell pepper, minerals, earth and floral notes. Complex wine and medium plus finish. Nice acidity. A nice change of pace from the big style of a Napa Cabernet. Should evolve nicely over 3 days. 92 points Day 3: A lot of spices, earth and bell pepper. Fruit is hiding behind some of the spices. While it is not a bad wine the price is a bit steep. 91 points Day 4: This is a little better than day 3 with spices, more fruit showing, wood, earth, floral and minerals. A touch of heat. 91+ points Recommendation: I paid $70 and think it is overpriced at that price point.

14.5% vol Very deep ruby, some purple/pink to the rim Clean, very pure nose of cassis and dark raspberry that becomes sweeter and redder with time. Soft, sandy spices, fragrant wood – all very attractive and mellow, if lacking in complexity. Notably fresh.
The palate shows some excellent concentration, the attack has some density but also great lift and a salty tang. Ripe, plush and smooth with very ripe tannins and good acidity. Rich cassis and red fruit, on the full side of medium bodied, rich but well-balanced and largely carries the 14.5% very well.
On return, the nose shows more sweet red raspberry, the palate is supple and creamy, silky really… it is the refinement of a wine like this that tells. It is expensive, but you can’t deny the finesse and precision.

Notes of black currants and vanilla. The black currant note is pure and pleasant. Though I was hoping for more complexity at this price point.

After a couple of hours decanting it opened up to a very balanced and smooth wine.
