  • Ordered a bottle at Bruna's restaurant in Chicago. Seaquam wrote that this wine was a good match with tomato sauce so I paired it with Bucatini Amatriciana. Seaquam is a wise man. I previously had the 1999, 2006 and 2020. A blend of Sangiovese and Merlot. Notes of black cherries and leather. Everyone at the table really enjoyed this wine. Chewy tannins and a supple finish. 93 points.

  • An all-around, outstanding "second" from a first-rate producer. Hits all the right notes for the modern, Maremma-styled Bordeaux blend, with enough merlot (and oak!) to sweeten the more tannic Sangiovese and combine the best of both worlds. Flavorful, and medium bodied from start to finish, this is an easy drinker that pairs well with grilled meats or pasta bolognese. Great mid-week quaff @ $22 (Costco)

  • Super Tuscan, some funk and red fruit and tobacco on the nose. Medium + acidity, juicy red fruit and hints of darker currant, some oak in the back, medium body. Finish could be longer. decent wine and value.

  • Pop and pour....

Dark garnet in color. Medium plus body.
Dark fruit off the nose. Hint of spice. A little dusty.
Dry. One dimensional wine. Simple, yet palatable.
This is a restaurant wine, suitable for weddings etc. Not fancy by any means, but a decent wine.

Short ribs and pizza by Britt.

  • More dense ruby red appears more somber than most Sangioveses. Out of the chute the nose it is more refined, red fruit, plum, woody. mild tannins. Long finish. It has 10% merlot which I believe is the source of the velvet texture and plum richness.

    Marketing blurb:
About the Estate: The estate of Sette Ponti lies in the heart of the Chianti zone, fifteen miles northwest of the city of Arezzo just past the village of San Giustino Valdarno. The Via del Monte, known locally as the Via dei Sette Ponti, leads into a beautiful hidden valley and to the estate. The name Sette Ponti, or "seven bridges," refers to the seven bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence. Erected in the mid 13th century, it took nearly forty years to build, and is perceptible in the right far background of Leonardo DaVinci's Mona Lisa.

Tenuta Sette Ponti, is, like many Tuscan estates, multi-faceted. The 750-acre property supports livestock and mixed agriculture, and although viticulture is not new to the estate, winemaking is. The yield of the property's vineyards was until 1997 sold to various respected Tuscan wine producers, among them Piero Antinori. Dr. Moretti's enjoyment of wine led him to ask Antinori if the estate vineyards could produce great wines, and Antinori thought they could. The estate has since been transformed through the consultation of respected oenologist Carlo Ferrini and his assistant, Gioia Cresti; Gilbert Bouvet, one of France's most skilled viticulturalists; and agronomist Benedetto d'Anna.

  • Interesting , not sure why people want to cellar this, as this is clearly intended to drink now (2023) due to its fruit driven characteristics and smoothness . Well balanced .

  • The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and prune. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis), raisin, vanilla and oak. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

  • Dinner down memory lane (Il Borro Tuscan Bistro, London): Opened half an hour before we drank it, but not decanted. Ripe fruit, supple body, good balance. Big but flowing and lively rather than monolithic. Enjoyed more than I thought I would. Good with the tagliata

  • Medium ruby in the glass, medium + intensity, a youthful wine, but interesting characteristics on the nose with hazelnut, coffee and other kernel flavora overpowering the red fruit. On the palet it has high acidity and tannins, medium body with an intense flavor profile of ripe plum and sweet spices. Long length. Needs time to develop, Will be an interesting one to revisit.

  • Took about an hour to open up and for the fruit to show up and cover a very bitter mid-palate, reminiscent of Fernet Branca. Glad that I waited for it to open up, but dinner was already finished by the time it did. Deep ruby color. Blackberry fruit with oak and olive notes on the nose. Velvety palate, balanced acidity, juicy black cherry fruit with leather and dust. Short finish with a slight grip.

  • Dark ruby garnet in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty with herbs, some spices & minerals. Medium bodied with good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with some spices, herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but appears to be made for near to mid-term consumption. An indicative blend of Cabernet Sauvignon & Sangiovese.

  • Deep ruby, opaque, slow moving lega @14% abv. Dry, medium acidity med + rann, med+ alc 14% and body. Palate blackberry, leather, mocha, pepper. Aromas black fruit, grilled red meat, leather and cedar.
Sweet touch in long pluche finish. Very enjoyable, some complexity, a tad puckering.

  • Ripe, and either the Sangiovese is ripe enough or the Merlot gives it a real kick of fruitiness. Not overdone, just let's you know its got fruit character. Touch of sour cherry, mid palate is plush, back palate gives you more of Tuscany with its acidity. Quite fine.
