  • I don’t know if premox has been as big of an issue in the Loire as it has been in Burgundy, but at least IMO, this wine is advanced. It poured a darker color than I would have expected, and there is a maderized note on the nose. Not objectionable on the palate, but I can’t help thinking that it is not all it should be.

  • Very balanced and enjoyable Chenin, but a bit pricey for what it is.

  • If you like acid you've come to the right place. This makes Chablis look like dessert wine. Obviously from my score the style appeals to me, but I could be an outlier so just be warned.

It's a pale straw color. The nose is restrained with notes of yellow apples, faint petrol, and greengage plum. So tautly dry on the palate it's almost painful, just absolutely scrapes the tongue and upper gums, but there's an understated elegance. Light fruit with just a touch of unsweetened pineapple on the finish. Ravishing as an aperitif or with shellfish or cheese if you can handle the sting of the lash. I wonder if it will relax with a little age? I'm betting yes and assume this will be good for quite a while.

  • SLDS April 2022: Lemon, floral and lime with a little herbal spice giving some interest. Softly fruited palate, good flow and balance. Not a lot of depth to it but it's nice early drinking.

  • The nose is fresh and attractive, full of orange leaf and apples. The attack is along the same lines, very brisk and crisp, citrus fruits followed by apples and pears, with just a hint of honey on the finish. It's crisper than I expected with only a little richness mid-palate. There's no question - this is a very pleasant wine - the only problem is that at this price level (or slightly less), there are a lot of other better Loire whites.
So unless the next bottle shows considerably more complexity, I will enjoy my remaining ones but not go back for more.
