There is a bit of raisin over-ripeness in this wine, but in the overall context of the wine not a big deal to me. This has wonderful red fruit richness - all in fully mature form. Quite succulent in fact. Really beautiful mature balance. Way up there as Chianti goes. I add that it has been stored at 53 degrees or less since acquisition upon release.

Even better than the 6/2/08 bottle. Much richer and more complex. Almost like a great Brunello. My wife thought it should have been given an even higher score!

1997 San Giusto a Rentennano Chianti Classico Riserva (Italië, Toscane, Chianti, Chianti Classico Riserva Kleur:) Diep donkerrood met oranjebruin randje Aroma / bouquet: Rijpe, zelfs wat jammige kers, droppig, zoethout, potloodslijpsel, hout / vanille, Smaak / Afdronk: Mooie zachte zuren in combinatie met een klein zoetje, behoorlijk aanwezige tannines en daardoor op dit moment een eetwijn. Algemeen / potentieel: Wijn nu geserveerd bij een pastamaaltijd en dan is hij perfect. Tannines zijn dan minder storend. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 15 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 89

Diep donkerrood met en bruin-oranje randje Overrijpe kers, mint, jammig zwart fruit, hout (potloodslijpsel), hout, vanille, Vol en krachtig, na 11 jaar nog behoorlijk tannineus en bijna 'drogend', behoorlijke zuurgraad. Mooie wijn, maar deel niet geheel de visie van Parker. Nog teveel tannines en te weinig diepgang om echt overtuigend mooi te kunnen ouderen.

Deep garnet color. Sweet mulberry fruit aromas. Nicely structured, silky fruit in the mouth with good depth. Not a blockbuster but an enjoyable wine with some complexity to enjoy now.

Jerry is leaving us (Primitivo NYC): Not particular intense on the nose, in fact too gentle with it's super subtle notes of cherry fruit with bits of oak and earth. Good depth on the palate with admirable richness of texture retaining some toughness with lots of dark yet indistinct fruit joined by some spice notes and drying tannins. The fruit is accented with a real rich almond note leads to a short, diffuse finish. Drink em up.

Dinner at Rosa's with Mom. Garnet in color, this had darker and more roasted fruit than a recent bottle of the '95. A good, solid wine but doesn't show anything special at the moment. 50+11+11+7+7 = 86
