  • 2018 빈티지가 WS 올해의 와인 1위에 뽑히면서 유명해진 와인.
    아니 사실 원래 유명하긴 했으니 조금 더 유명해진이 맞는 표현이겠다.
    결론부터 말하면 잘 만든 BDM이나 그렇게까지 특별할 이유는 없다.

    노즈에서는 달달한 붉은 과실 향기가 매력적이다.
    이어서 담배향이 나는데 강하지 않고 코를 박아야 나는 수준이다.
    역시 아주 약간의 민트향이 나서 코가 간질간질한 기분이다.

    팔렛에서는 BDM답게 산도가 치고 올라오는 편이다.
    탄닌도 적절하고, 단맛도 있어서 아마 와인에 대한 불호가 지나치게 강하지 않은 이상에야 누구나 좋아할듯.
    아쉬운 건 구조감이 약한 편이라 여운이 이어지는 편은 아니다.

    Cherry and cranberry, good tartness. Some pepper and oak. High (perhaps slightly angular) acidity and slightly hot, but nice tannins.

    Paired enjoyably with a prime rib. Would try similar again, though I’m unsure this is my preferred style.

  • I have been really surprised by this wine. Hopes were pretty low considering the vintage.

    Drinks beautiful while young. Bunch of red fruits, and just enough tannins to remember you’re in Italy.

    I have another bottle, and I’ll probably drink it within 2 years.

    옅은 루비색 림부위는 살짝 갈변빛
    바디M- 드라이, 산도M, 가늘고 부드러운 탄닌

    오픈 첫잔은 체리, 자두, 붉은과실향, 삼나무, 허브
    탄닌은 꽤 보들보들하고 향은 약간 잠긴 느낌
    17빈 BDM이 약하다는 평이
    지금도 나쁘진 않고 좀더 열어 보고싶어 12시간 어깨블리딩
    시간과 온도가 올라가면서 꿈꿈한 가죽향, 감초, 장미 늬앙스
    미세하게 시간이 지날수록 자꾸 좋아진다
    밸런스는 좋고 무겁지 않고 캐주얼하게 마시기 편한

    마리아주도 좋아서 만족스러운...

  • 2017 warmer vintage than 2018 - so wine is rounder and fuller. nose: earthy-tobacco-black cherries. taste: medium (+) acidity, full body; sweeter, ripe fruit - black cherries; great tannins quality. Hedonistic. you can drink now or in a couple of years.

  • This was solid, but I think I have had other Brunellos that were a better overall value to flavor match. I enjoyed it with steak but it was not quite as balanced as I expected it to be. It could easily settle and balance out more over the next year.

  • Nose: beauty of a perfume with this minty blueberry tinge that somehow mingles with the typical sweet-grass-under-the-Tuscan-sun and red fruit that I always get from sangio.

    Palate: herbal cherry and blackberry, some sage earthiness.

    Fantastic wine and great value as far as Brunellos go. Drinking very well young.

  • Red fruit, herbs, tomato, tea leaf, spice with nice balance. Nice acidity with mid tannin. Not strong type of BDM but the nose lasts quite a long time, with fairly long finish. After tasting half of this bottle, I have already ordered anorher one. Absurd qpr, with its price range.

  • Opened for 5 hours, no decanting. Deep ruby in the glass. Nose ready and open for business - notes of redcurrant, cranberry, dark cherry, freshly rolled cigarettes, cinnamon, vanilla. Medium-bodied, unripe tannins, moderate acidity. Elegant style of Brunello, not generous, not big. Finesse is in focus. Long, fine finish. Great wine that will keep giving for the next decade definitely.

  • $160 in restaurant, full body, dark color, lots of fruit, tannin peaks through, a crowd pleaser, drank with veal Milanese, not my style, probably would not drink again.

  • Decanted 1 hr
    Still very tight. In my opinion these Argianos get really intersting around 8-10 years of age. Mushroom, sugar plum, moss. Acid is high. Leather, hints of cheese. Some underripe cherry. Finally starting to open up after 2 hours. It’s clear this bottle needs age. Such a difference from two 2012s I had a couple weeks ago. This bottle just has no significant weight to it unfortunately.

  • Pnp in restaurant setting. Surprisingly open for business out of the chute - always an encouraging sign because it likely means there is a lot more underneath. As pleasant as this is right now it is still about as one-dimensional as you’d expect. I would expect more complexity given time. A terrific showing for 2017.

  • Second of the 2017s, not supposed to be agreat year but Argiano does a good job. Red/brown color, no nose. First Brunello burst is soft, fruity but not a lot of body, hard to pick out the dark fruits. Finish is dry and earthy, hints of spice medium linger. Not bad but definitely young and young tasting inlike better years. Good effort by a great producer.

  • Medium plus nose shows earth, cedar, red pepper, red plum, rose petal, orange zest. Palate is nicely expressive, lovely style, fresh fruit but with earth tones, fresh forest, dried cherry, plum, second taste gives more structure, medium plus tannins/acidity/alcohol. Drinking better young than the 2016, and exactly what it should be, good Brunello.

  • Tasted at Benvenuto Brunello in NYC. The wine is a medium to dark, slightly translucent but bright, saturated ruby. The nose is quite fragrant with red berries, florals and sweet spice and a clean freshness. Palate is well structured and balanced with bright cherry fruit, spices and a savory edge. Finish is long and distinctly chocolate covered cherry infused. Bright, energetic but in need of some cellaring. While pleasant now I would guess that it will be even better after its 10th birthday. Though probably not one to put down for a lot longer aging.
