Holiday Dinner with Todd G (Bobo - NYC): AT Bobo in NYC with Todd, a fantastic corkage friendly French Bistro in NYC. In my cellar for 10+ years, I went through the Villies Vignes designates already...:) Last bottle of this was 3+ years ago. First wine of the evening, splash decanted.
Prior notes from '17: "Rich ruby/purplish color. Nose of dark fruits, earth, floral notes. Palate of red fruits, black raspberry, pomegranate, mushroom, vanilla. Creamy secondary notes through the mid palate. Medium weight and finish. Tannins still a bit grippy, starting to resolve..."
This bottle did indeed soften and evolve with the extra cellar time. Fruit profile of red fruit, black raspberry still intact. Elegant and smooth texture, tannins have softened. Secondary notes of earth, mushrooms and minerals.
In a great spot, well stored bottles should drink at this level for a while. Worth opening now if you have them. Would give it about 30 minutes to open if venue allows

In OCNJ, slow oxed for about 30 minutes, drank over an hour. First bottle from a batch bought about 8 yrs ago.
Rich ruby/purplish color. Nose of dark fruits, earth, floral notes. Palate of red fruits, black raspberry, pomegranate, mushroom, vanilla. Creamy secondary notes of through the mid palate. Medium weight and finish. Tannins still a bit grippy, starting to resolve.
All in very nice and in a decent spot, would like to see softer tannins with this wine. May soften with a few more years in the cellar

We went through 3 bottles at a neighborhood dinner party. The angel on my shoulder kept telling me to open another bottle since everyone was enjoying it so much. I should have listened to the devil on the other shoulder whispering to me… "Open up something else and keep this for yourself.

Mushroom, earthy aroma notes up front. Tart, ripe green – sour cherry flavor notes. The tannins are quite noticeable on the finish. This wine lacked elegance or supple finesse, especially when tasted in the absence of food.

Past its prime, but still solid. Deep red, with black fruits and forest floor. Other notes mention oak, but I don’t find it at all prominent.

2005 Village Burgundy (Quality Chop House, Farringdon, London): Rich, dark fruit, very oaky - vanilla, sesame seed. Full bodied, rich dark fruit, furry tannins dominate shortish finish. A touch brutish *(*)

My first bottle since 2009. Continues to drink beautifully. Really began to open after 30 minutes in the glass. Still lots of fruit.

Toasted wood, raspberry, black cherry, sweet cream, floral nose. Powerful wine with good tannins and acidity. (Drink 2014-2030)
