Zh) herrlich! Bolgheri at its best! Vanille, etwas Lakritze…toll

Dark sweet plums and blueberries. Incredibly elegant with large, fresh fruits and good acidity. Velvety tannins, integrated oak, and everything falls into place with a long, complex finish of tobacco, licorice, and dark chocolate. Top notch!

This is still really beautiful, if a bit shy at this stage in its evolution. Initially muted and closed off, after giving this 1.5 hours of air it really started to come together. Still very much primary there is a real brightness on your palate. Really nice mouthfeel and texture as well. I’m going to do my best to not open another one for a few years (3-5). Not that it won’t be delicious still between now and then but as you drink this you really do get a sense of excitement around what this wine can become.

This was poured by the glass and was wide open when I got to it. The nose is upfront, yet seamless with rich tones of currants, dark red cherries, raspberries, some creamy oak, a touch of bell pepper, violets, dark chocolate, fresh herbs, and some spice notes. The Full bodied feel is plush and polished with medium acidity and silky, medium+ tan. This is absolutely a young wine. But, it is already well polished and insanely drinkable with excellent balance across the nose and palate.

Way too young and just another hyped Super Tuscan. For those who like these kinds of wines, you can definitely add a good vintage (2016?). Having said that, I stick to the original Bordeaux-blends. The nose promises more than the palate returns. Yes, you can imagine what this possible disguised gem could bring in the future. Imho, there are many alternatives and it is just another brick in the fascinating and marketing-pushed Super Tuscan wine world. Was an interesting experience, wine is solid, nothing else to write home about.

Super primary with dark fruits but also that sense of Italian herbs and nerve, this was great but it’s barely showing it’s stuff. Really an excellent wine and solid value in higher end Bordeaux blends.

Elegant, refined, and bright. This is such an amazing wine. There is a subtlety to it that brings about so much charm. Almost like a trailer for what you know will surely be a timeless film. This should be a classic that will hold its own against the other prominent super Tuscans from the 2019 vintage. I can see this slotting in rather well, if not at that the top, of a blind 2019 super Tuscan tasting. Beautiful.

My v first encounter w this intriguing, textbook bolgheri (& Tenuta Argentieri) - raw force & divine elegance. The 19 Argentieri Bolgheri Superiore is made f 50% M, 44% CS, 6% CF - all varieties playing a role in scents, structure & palate. Fine dark ruby/pomegranate, darker core. Nose bursts w scents of white pepper, cherries, raspberries, lingonberries, tad of oak & roses. Superb full-bodied palate, retained freshness, spice & again red fruit dominating mouthfeel, tremendous energy, grainy, lingering close!

The perfect pour. I can’t imagine this getting any better than it is but if it does… wow. Great structure, acidity and finesse. Feels like $$$$ in the glass. I’m too in love with this wine. It’s incredible everytime I’ve been fortunate to try it.

This is stunning. Decanted for 1 hour and enjoyed over the next 2.5 with dinner. Some very strong dark fruit flavours come through though there is this incredible lift. I suspect from the Cab Franc. It’s not heavy nor does it feel dense yet there is a beautiful weight to the wine on the palate. Really excited about trying this again in a few years time but 5+ is probably the sweet spot for this beauty. 94++

Third winery we visited last weekend. Founded only in 1999 by two Italian businessmen brothers and now owned by Stanislaus Turnauet, an Austrian entrepreneur. We tasted their Vermentino, Villa Donoratico and of course their flagship wine, their Bolgheri Superiore 2019. CabSauv, Merlot and Cab Franc. Still very young, but a great super tuscan already. Earthy tones, very aromatic with a long finish.

Second wine in Bolgheri at Bolgheri Bistrot. Dark fruit, higher acidity, great structure, very tight (new bottle) as I didn’t have time to decant as it’s BTG.

Bolgheri 2019 Anteprima (67 Pall Mall, London): 55% cab sav, 32% cab franc 13% merlot, 18m in barrique. Another standout, although it needs at least five years. Cool and smooth on the palate.
