More bulk juice released on the unsuspecting wine consumer, pretty good cooking wine though as it went well INTO my pasta dish. 80 points. Not a rebuy.

4th Saturday Group: Old & Young (J&S): Double blind. Note of candied red fruit, licorice and cherry, becoming more dark-fruted as it breathes in the glass. Juicy, bright fruit on the palate. This did not strike me as zinfandel. (R&D)

Smooth, rich CA red zin. Cherry, blackberry, black pepper. On the palate, nice mix of fruit and spice. Paired well with grilled chicken pasta at Twisted Fire in Oconomowoc, WI.

Really good smooth juicy zin with deep flavors. Full bodied. Very nice with not much aeration required. Similar on the 2nd and just as enjoyable 3 days later. Go to zin for sure going forward. Worth the price. I like full bodied smooth reds and this one is right down my alley.

We have now had several 2021 Saldos from 2 different sources and I can readily say the 2021 Saldo is significantly inferior to the NV Saldo that I got in 3 or 4 different markets. On average, the '21 is 4 points lower quality. It has a sour/bitter middle that hangs around the briary nature of the wine. The fruit flavors are muddled and the NV had clean separation of some fruit flavors. NV was smoother and more balanced.
This particular bottle was the straw on the camels back, My wife indicated for the $28 per bottle we should not buy andy more since she has several other favorites that she likes for less than half the price

This bottle under perform the norm for Saldo. High acidity made it hard to taste the fruit. It felt rushed out of the fermentation. At their current price point this type of bottle should never get out.

Fairly big and sweet with fruit resembling raspberry candy. Med or med- acidity. Touch of tannins on the finish. I would have rated this higher 10 years ago--a bit too much for me now, even with my New World palate.

This bottle showed a strong astringence at the start, which diminished over time. That didn't slow us much in drinking our glasses. Nice fruit and spice.

A touch on the sweet side, which makes it very drinkable. This wine is now above my price point, but it is a favorite of my wife, so I'll be continuing to buy it. Well constructed and balanced, but it is missing something by my taste. Fruity with mild briariness. '21 vintage was taken off a lot paper attached to the cardboard case; no vintage on bottle labels.

This has the sort of fruity, inviting nose that makes me smile, and flavours to match. Nothing fancy but a good wine for Dr. Pepper ribs.

Fine Zinfandel, tons of fruit not much else happening. Bit of leather on the nose.

Medium red. Good juicy fruit and soft finish after just a little breathing. Very nice.

Tasty enough. Full-bodied, pleasurable wine. Fruit bomb intertwined with vanilla notes. Fairly simple. Nice wine but the quality is sub $20

Good fruit, not much spice, very drinkable, but nothing special and not worth the price

A good, fruit forward Zinfandel from Prisoner. Not much complexity, jammy with red fruits. PNP with a decent QPR.

Admittedly don't drink as many zins as other reds, but something about this seemed off balance or erroneous
