N: ATTRACTIVE, but TOUGH to parse, though I'd say the Grenache was making itself felt, coming across ALMOST Burgundian; Smoke, berries, earth, hints of oranges -- in no particular order; Intensity lurking
P: LM body; Very NICE, ALMOST swtish frt firmed by just a smidigin of astringent pucker which fairly seamlessly morphs into a very LONG, BALANCED finish with a delectable tangy/swtness & very, VERY slight bitterness, which should be a + with food. At its zenith (or poss a BIT beyond?), but should still hold through '22... safely. 13.5% ABV; My EXC+/Exceptional- (94-97/100 on that scale). 91 pts RJonWine (11/25/08) & 89 WS (3/15/94).

1990 ANYTHING Dinner (Our house): This was surprisingly fresh. Nice mature fruit with a pretty sweet strawberry note on the nose and palate. Not very deep, but pretty and easy. Medium finish.

Holding up surprisingly well and better than the previous bottle. Mature saddle leather, plums with a even little heat initially. Finish is longer than I remembered before.

A faint barnyard aura, the loss of Rhone pepper and spice, and the feeling that this wine was a few years passed its prime muted my enthusiasm and enjoyment of this wine.

Reddish brown color with moderate sedimant; nose of tobacco, droed fruit and earth; medium body, elegant with smooth tannins and flavors of plums, spice and oak; finishes very nice; drinking quite well for its age and have no concerns about further aging.

Brick brown/red, cork allowed slight seepage since taking out of the cellar 2 days ago. Very sweet tobacco nose, leather and cranberry. Also can smell some alcohol. Sour cherries and tobacco are predominant.

Wine battle 2 (Niels' place): Dark brown/red. A simply stunning nose of sweet tobacco, buttermilk and forrest floor. Almost full-bodied with very sweet red fruit and some spicyness. This wine had grenache written all over it. What a beauty! In perfect condition!

The oldest wine in a blind Syrah tasting coutesy of Otis. Its age was evident from the bricking and nose filled with moldy fruit and some barnyard. Notes of raspberry and bacon fat. Quite intigueing. Medium bodied. 91-92 points.

Still going. Certainly well on the downward slope, but very pleasant drinking.

Nice old chateauneuf, holding up very well, light syrupy sweetness and some lush dark components. ...smooth.

Tobbaco and plum flavors with a little spice. Seemed quite youthful for its age. Very good condition but unfortunately, not my style.

(From old tasting notes) A very good wine with lots of fruit and spice. Fullbodied and savoury but elegant and complex as well.
