Bottle 1219g. Screwcap. Aromas of elevated intensity, berries and sweet spice with a floral top note, graphite underneath. Dry, with elevated fresh acidity, modest drying tannins, on the light side of medium-bodied, 12.5% abv. Syrah leads the flavors, with white pepper and graphite. Despite its restraint, holds a fair amount of interest, mostly on the nose, but doesn't offer much generosity for a Californian wine, or the joyousness of something like Clape's Vin des Amis. I'm asking too much I know, especially at this price point. It wants a foil, or should be the foil, for something rich like pork belly.

A little young, this really opened up nicely in the decanter after about an hour and carried on nicely over the next two hours afterwards. On opening the mourvedre is dominant and a bit out of balance and the syrah and other supporting cast do come out with time, but it is pretty clear to me at least that this needs to rest for another 3 or 4 years and then will drink wonderfully over the next 5 or so years.
All in all, with a decant now, still pretty darn good, but worth the wait if you are willing to go a few years (even at room temperature of around 70F, so long as not much light or temperature variance).
Would probably peak at 90-91 points in my book.

Bottle a reasonable but not remarkable 1216g. I expect a lot from leaders in sustainability. Screwcap. Aromas of moderate intensity, black fruit, but also some red, and dry dark earth. Dry, with elevated edgy acidity, moderate drying tannins, just medium-bodied, 12.5% abv. Sweetly fruited, redder fruit on the palate, juicy, some salinity. Actually a pleasure to drink, and food friendly too.

Light bodied with mild tannins. On the nose, some earth and fruit that dissipates quickly, along with spice. On the palate, drier and earthier. Drank over two days and the earth and spice became more pronounced on day two while the fruit faded.
Paired pretty well with soy marinated short ribs.

Bottle 1218g. Stelvin closure. Moderately intense aromas of red and black fruit, tart berries, a wild herbal component. Dry, with moderate fresh acidity, moderate drying tannins, just medium-bodied, 12.5% abv. Needs another year I'm thinking. Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Counoise. The Syrah and Mourvedre are wound up tight, and the Grenache can't persuade them to come out and play yet.

Always a fun wine to drink and share with other. Light and bright with modest fruit of red berries. Clean, medium dry finish. I find that the wine should be slightly chilled, but not cold. I think prior vintages had a little more structure than this vintage.

Lighter translucent ruby. Fresh aromas of charred beef, pumpkin pie baking spice and wildflower. Lively and light on its feet. Red berries and nice lift. Good balance and decent finish

Ripe fruit but not overdone, rather red fruited even though its a goodly amount of Syrah in there. And bright and fresh on the palate as well. Good stuff. Balanced, tasty and kinda beautiful.

Aromas of mixed berry cobbler with both red and blue fruit, plum, smoke, Bacon fat, cured meat, hot brick, and Iron.
Light to medium body definitely light for the style but very pleasing. Medium acidity, higher than most GSM blends from Paso. Moderate tannins, also higher than most GSM blends I’ve had from Paso, and a decently long finish.
Not an overly complex wine but has good balance of fruit and structure and represents good value for money. Definite Rhone influence.

Feels a little on the youngish side, but what a deal to get a wine of this quslity in a box. Hats off to Tablas.
It may be me, but I think it tastes a little better out of the bottle bs the box. Still - this a very drinkable blend. Lighter body with bright fruit and a little citrus with some berry.
The wine lasts well in the box and kept in the fridge.
Big fan of all the Tablas wines. They never disappoint.

When Tablas Creek released this in a 3L box, I jumped on it. It arrived just before the heat wave hit. The box has been open for 10+ days now and still drinks exactly the same as it did when we first tasted it.
Tasted 3 hours after pouring into a glass from a half consumed box.
Light nose of blackberries, mixed red fruit, a little bit of spices, and a hint of metal. Light bodied, fruity, and a lot more complexity than the nose was indicating. Palate starts off with cranberries and then veers to blackberries, red cherries, and a hint of cocoa. An ample earthy tannin structure brings in a mineral streak that doesn't want to let go. Long mineral and earthy finish with undertones of black tea and graphite shining though at the end.
I have to tip my hat to Tablas Creek - This is a great way to show people that you can sell great, albeit young drinking, wines in a box. I would totally sign up for a Patelin de Tablas box club and have them ship me a box or two each of the red, white, and rose automatically on each release.
