I couldn't control myself and opened another bottle even though I thought it needed another year when I tasted it last. It is better but still not in its best drinking interval. The red and black fruit is more apparent but the tannins are still too strong. Drank over 2 nights and better on the second night.

Medium in color. Very aromatic. Notes of black tea, cherries, and some floral/herbaceous notes. Medium body with mild/moderate tannins. Similar notes on the palate but also some sour cherry. Overall interesting wine and great value.

This wine has a deep ruby color. I drank most of it over 2 nights and saved enough for a small glass on the 3rd night. It is highly concentrated with puckering tannins that were very prominent on night one, less prominent on nights 2 and 3. The dark fruit began to appear on night 2 and was more apparent on night 3. The obvious conclusion is that it is not yet ready to drink. I suspect that it will be much better in another year or 2.

1st bottle of 6. Triple decanted and consumed over several hours. Notes on opening: Opaque ruby. Dung, dark fruits. Closed, possible cork taint, which dissipated. With further airing, some dark fruit profile became evident. Very good wine, but quite tight. My friend enjoyed this and preferred it to the '22 Burlotto Langhe Nebbiolo served alongside it. (90-91).
Had a glass and didn't get much last night. Second day and it's showing mich better. Rustic and fragrant nose with rubbed sage, fennel, espresso beans, red cherries, roses, some toffee and a little bit of eucalyptus perhaps. Rich tart red cherries and black cherries that flex quite a bit of muscle on the palate. Some coffee and spice notes as well with a hint of vanilla on the finish. Grippy tannins and mouthwatering acidity. This needs at least 5 more years. Really nice Chianti Riserva.

Cigar, black cherries, cranberry, soil, maybe a hint of something ferrous. Very fragrant, I can smell this well before my nose gets to the glass. Tannins are quite powerful now, and maybe a little unpleasantly drying without food, but this was the whole package with amatriciana tonight. It’s strange to see so many negative notes recently since I think this is marvelous.

Although this wine as OK to consume, I will not replace it in my cellar, there are just too many other "Chianti" and sangiovese wines that I rank higher on the scale.
Classy Chianti. Cherries, cranberries, herbs, menthol, earth. Vertical og very well structured. A really good companion with past, tomato sauce and meatballs. Can easily wait in the cellar for the next five years.

Drank most over 2 nights (1/21 and 1/22) but saved 1 glass for !/23. Very closed on the first 2 nights with basically no nose on the first and minimal nose on the second. The glass saved for the 3rd night showed some dark fruit and spice. The obvious conclusion is that this wine is not ready to drink at this time. Will give the rest of the case at least one and possibly 2 years before opening them.

Very nice - more red-fruited on the nose, with a mix of black and red fruit on the palate. Good acidity and persistence. For your basic Chianti, hard to go wrong with a Monsanto CCR.

93 for the quality of the wine, but it would be better to leave this in the cellar for drinking 2026-2040+, if, if it does not go into a closed period as sometimes happens. Another fine Monsanto, this was decanted 30 minutes before dinner and was great, with classic Sangiovese aromas and flavors. It’s got classic structure, with firm acidity and tannins, and at about hour three when the latter really woke up ! A great, balanced food wine and a very good QPR.

Beautiful nose of sugar plums, black cherry, sweet balsamic and tobacco. Theres no question this is quality fruit and a great understated use of oak. However, I was a bit disappointed by the palate. The same beautiful fruit was present on the front of the palate but the finish sort of fizzled out and was a bit too 'smooth.' I like my sangiovese to bite me on the finish with acid and tannin, and this did not have much. I was expecting a bit more from 2019 tuscany. A good wine but maybe not quite worth the premium, I believe you can get superior chianti around $20.

PnP. Dark purplish garnet with dark pink edge in color. Nose of sour cherries, sweet earth and violets. On the palate: cherries, cranberry, sweet earth and rose water. Fine-grained tannins are perceived on cheeks and gums, but are overshadowed by bright acidity. Long finish of sour cherries, sweet earth and subtle wood spice. Wine as one-dimensional. Corked and tried the next night. The nose was more expressive, popping raspberry notes, but in the end it was a very similar profile to day one. Solid pair for Italian fare, but there's better QPR to be found easily.
Another vintage, another lovely Chianti Classico Riserva from Castello di Monsanto which continues to be a benchmark for wines from San Donato in Poggio. Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days and consistent over both. The 2019 Monsanto CCR pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears and no signs of sediment. On the nose, baked mixed berries, dried green herbs, red carnations, dried gravely earth. On the palate, the wine is dry. Medium+ tannin and Medium+ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose. The finish is medium+. A lovely pairing with almost any red sauce dish. Drinking well now and I expect it will continue to do so through 2034

90pts+ wine as of this tasting (2019, drank in may-2023), but I believe this could develop from a beautiful, to a very-beautiful wine. Use some patience and lay it down for a few more years. I'd love to try it as an evolved version 5 to 10+ years old. Lots of potential here, although very drinkable right now. It will develop in the glass but I'd put it to decanting an hour before serving, ideally.

Liked at the WS Grand Tour. I have been liking these more than I remember. Maybe it is the Ris vs the Normale, or my pallate changing, or climate changing. Don't know. 90+pts

Red berries on the nose. More red fruit on the palate (sour cherry, raspberry and strawberry), with vanilla and orange peel. Medium plus acidity. Soft but grippy tannins. Medium body and intensity. Medium finish.
I would hold on this or decant 2h, still tight at the moment. Best from 2024 to 2029.

Took some time to open, but boy did it open.
Black cherries, a little too acidic on the palette at the start. This wine blossomed into a beauty in the glass after about 30mins~45mins!
Red fruit, perfume, pleasant oak. Was still drinking well in 4hours!
Definitely full bodied.
