Opened for an hour and the nose is fragrant with flower shop and candy store combined. I am stunned by how young and big this wine is and it’s still a little too young to drink. It’s got a deep dark red hue and the palate is huge; you could have this with a pastrami sandwich and the wine would compliment it. I get cherry, boysenberry, chocolate and licorice, especially on the back end. The wine is a monster and occasionally I enjoy a Petit Verdot and this is a quintessential example. It’s too early to drink or be prepared for a long decant

Almost pitch black core, super dark garnet red. Lovely nose, minerality, dark berries and savory. Great tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Lush and dry palate with some earthiness and dried berries. Definitely not backing down. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2023.

very nice nose and colour was wonderful. decent weight on the palate with a somewhat silky texture. a bit of a sour finish. sour cherry? or maybe green olive? not sure. decent but better wine out there for the price

interesting for CA in that it was very fruity and voluptuous at opening and then slammed shut over the next couple hours, kind of bordeaux like that way. i'd give it more time for sure. tough to judge right now.

def a massive wine, starts to open up after 2hrs of decanting but continues to have a herbal finish(maybe green olive?) i really don't like it. if the finish was smoother and did not have the herbal flavour i would rate the wine at least 3 pts higher

This wine was a beast. It was so thick you had to chew it. Major profile of blackberry, black cherry and a forest floor/moss component that made you think your were actually drinking in the wilderness. It was my first experiment with all Petit Verdot and I think it is best used in a blend for my palate.

15.2% alcohol. continuing my run thru the portfolio. decanted. this is a very ripe, sweetly tannic glob of a wine. i think there is a reason this is usually referred to AS A BLENDING GRAPE. while i admire the gumption to make this a stand alone varietal, i've never found an example to embrace, including this one. petite verdot just isn't interesting enough, i.e. zero complexity.

Zachys Fall 2009 Food & Wine Extravaganza (The Lighthouse at Pier Sixty (NYC)): simple, a bit sour. certainly not worth the tariff.
