Slightly bitter finish, following a pleasing burgundy nose, and a slightly thinner than we would have liked start- or, I can't expect to have my cake and eat it. Having been seduced by some marvelous Gevrey and Echezeaux recently, and seeking that the next bottle will surprise us, I then can't complain if every Pinot seduction isn't the same. Good grief, what comes out of my brain this early in the am.

2005 Burgundy (La Trompette, London): Dense, dark ruby. A brighter nose with a touch of caramel wafer. Dark red fruit. Slightly furry tannins still though these seem to soften and melt in the mouth with air. Some depth to the fruit, but a lightness and vibrancy too. Nicely fragrant. Young but harmonious. Sweetens with air and puts on a little weight. ****
