Damn, it's been a minute since I've had a Soave. Not a lot of interesting ones making it to my market but this is the benchmark for entry level Soaves, so let's go!
Colour is palest yellow. Nose is a bit shy, doesn't draw you in right away, takes a bit of work. Reveals bruised apple/yellow pear, lime zest, and something nutty, maybe almond. Honeydew not prominent but it lays beneath, and juicy watermelon too.
Palate is laser-like, all sharp acidity, with decent flavour concentration. The lemon really takes over on the palate, and finishes with cat pee and some minerality (kind of flinty river rock thing?) adding a savoury edge. Length is medium.
Overall good for the price, complexity is pretty good and the structure is good enough. Went pretty well with both sushi and scallops. Looking forward to tasting one of their single vineyard offerings.

The 2022 is in perfect balance, an excellent year for Pieropan & Soave in general for rich & expressive wines. Lovely floral honeysuckle notes with nuts, ripe yellow tree fruit & stoney mineral acidity. Quite a remarkable effort considering the record droughts and high temperatures throughout Italy. A wine that is so easy to drink on its own, with light fare or with pasta.

I misplaced the last glass in the "sweet wine section", worked hard, went to Europe for a few weeks and… One month later rediscovered this bottle that had one glass left in it, with the original corked lightly plugged in and kept in room temperature.
It was with large amount of skepticism I even smelled it.
But lo and behold!
This is still fruity, intense and even more nuanced than before.
WOW! I suppose one conclusion is that we’re all drinking this nectar faaar too early. Another conclusion may be that this wine is one of exceptional quality.
I will get more. And the next Pieropan I plop, I will keep the last glass for a month. Out of curiosity. And see what happens.
WOW!

Pieropan Masterclass (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Lemon lolly water, a tiny cheesy lees and minerality, floral top notes show a little blossom, bees wax, a pinch of sulphur and a very slight herbaceous underpin complete the nose. Juicy, tangy, textured rasp across the mid palate, lemon leads the citrus, touch of salinity on the finish. Yum.

Good wine, medium intensity on the nose with floral and citrus notes, good acidity in the mouth. Beautiful minerality that accompanies the drinking experience from the first sniff.
Buon vino, intensità media al naso con note floreali e di agrume, in bocca di buona acidità. Bella la mineralità che accompagna la beva sin dalle prime olfazioni.

Light yellow. A fruity-flowery bold aroma palette dominated by Tutti Frutti pastilles (an orange- and mandarin-rich fruity composition with flowers from the orange tree and jasmine overtones). In the mouth it gives a viscous feeling, that's how rich this is. Dense and also perfectly balanced. This wine is serious and made for fine dining, not saying that it can't also be enjoyed as a piquenique wine. Acidity to live for! Complex in the fruity register.
The richest Soave I ever enjoyed (I still have less than 50 Soaves under my belt), and I expect even more from Pieropan's Calvarino and La Rocca that I will enjoy shortly.
The small rainfall of the 2022 season and extreme heat in August in combination with excellent wine-making skills, has produced an amazing entry-level Soave.
Saving the last glass for tomorrow or the day after.
Dirt cheap, even in Japan!

A nice Italian white blend with notes of apple, citrus, hint of minerals. A refreshing and well balanced wine with good acidity and nice finish. Paired with sushi.

Super mild and fragrant Pieropan Soave enjoyed in the piazza dei signore, Verona. Floral, peach and melon. Medium acidity and light body with an ever so slight phenolic bitterness to pull it all together. Perfect way to start the evening and pairs quite well with grilled octopus and prosciutto & melon. Also great QPR.

Strågul/lys grønn Grønt eple, hvit fersken, gress, sjøsprøyt på nesen. Medium syre og kropp, smak går mer mot pære, og mer av mineraler og sjø. Enkelt og greit, men ganske godt.

Zesty lime, fresh herbs, Jasmin flowers and a pleasant, dusty minerality. Medium length.
Nice easy sipper and surprisingly well made - above average QPR.

Tasted at Wine & Spirits Top 100 NYC. Crisp and herbal but seems a little restrained. Pleasant but not especially impressive.

Pretty much on the house/historical style. Some richness but possibly at the (small) expense of the citrus minerality. Such a safe choice.
