Deep ruby/garnet in appearance. Pronounced aromas of ripe fruit, black currant, dried fruit, caramel, mushroom. On the palate, dried fruit, leather, licorice, blackberry, black cherry, caramel, and tobacco. The body is still full, medium tannins, medium + acidity, high alcohol, pronounced flavor intensity, and a very long finish. Outstanding.

Strong smell of black flint stone, M E A T and licorice predominantly, surprisingly different from most other C9dP ever tried, not this full bodied showing even when labeled with 14,5% ABV, no, quiet fresh and mineral appearance, not exactly limy but somehow stony, the fruit delicate and fresh, some tar, meat and tobacco in the background, decent length, on top now! Will open another bottle to compare soon, ***-****, around 91, 92(+)

Very nice nose of cerises du Nord, very feminine and delicate, framboise, oriental spices... Sappy tannin, high acidity, tannin present, but adding a refreshing feeling, great finesse... Rayas style!!

Weekly tasting group #145; Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2005 (@ VD): Ruby red. Concentrated and complex bouquet with dark and red berry fruits, cherries, garrigue, sweet spices and salty as well as sweet licorice. On the palate also a feast with a beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness. All the flavors from the bouquet are in the taste as well. Good and soft tannin with a pleasant bite and a good concentration. Maturity stage now and still a great future until at least 2019. Love it!

A fairly modern style of CNDP that hadn't really gone anywhere with bottle age and generally seemed a little bit too alcoholic and port-like. Disappointing.

Dark red; red berry nose, plum, chocolate, toasted coffee bean; rich fruits on the palate, delicious; ripe taninn, long finish; drinking well now, but can cellar.

Inky and rustic with dark fruit, oak spices, almonds, pencil lead, liquorice. Tannic but with good balance.
