Bordeaux 2022 barrel samples and some additional vintages (Solliden in Stockhom): Bordeaux 2022 primeur tasting and this wine was one of my favourites. Already a bit developed and with good concentration. Margaux typicity with earthiness. Really delicious. I'm sure D'Issan 22 with the power and ripeness combined with enough freshness is a good example of the strengths of 2022 in some cases. Ch Ferriere was just close behind.

Violets, black cherries, blueberries, blackberries, cocoa, cedar, and cigar box fill the aromatics. On the palate, the wine is lively, creamy, deep, long, and most importantly pure. The tannins are silky, and even with all this ripeness, and concentration, the wine remains fresh, vibrant, long and sensuous. This is undoubtedly the finest vintage of d'Issan ever produced! The wine is made from a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. 14.64% ABV, 3.67 pH. This is the only the third vintage to include 5 Bordeaux varietals in the blend. Picking took place September 15 - September 28. Yields were 30 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2027-2055. 95-97 Pts.

Langer Abgang. Ein grossartiger Issan! En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Three (Bordeaux): Initially some soft black fruits, a little almost minty note but, with time, the fruits become denser and more concentrated joined by a little crushed dusty star anise, oaky spice and a touch of baked earth…lots going on, not all pleasant…it has a lot to say to my nose. medium plus intensity acidity and a melange of black fruits sprinkled with that star anise, I'm also getting a touch of black olive here as well as some woody, coarse chalky textured tannins and a touch of yeast extract and non-intrusive alcohol warmth on the long finish. Woof!

En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Two (Bordeaux): A sensation of density and concentration to the black hued fruits; plums, blackcurrants, brambles, baked by plentiful sweet oak spice. In the mouth it's juicy, slightly savoury with a lick of alcohol warmth, dark hued fruits, touches of white pepper and fruit tea. Plentiful chewy tannins persist long. One of the largest wines today so far.

Langton's Bordeaux En Primeur 2022 tasting (Langham Hotel, Kent Street, Sydney): A different bottle. And this also shows that herbaceous quality. Palate much of muchness, lots of tannins here as well dryings things out. Must be a bad batch. FLAW

Bordeaux 2022 en Primeur and some recent vintages: A light, elegant wine with subtle farmhouse aromatics. Balanced, but not grand.

Very focused nose. Herbaceous, oaky, very forceful but kind. Dark chocolate and cherry fruit.
I was baffled by the balance between the power on the palate and the fresh 'lift' of the finish.
