Sunday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): From magnum. Quite opulent and rich, but still relatively lean for the vintage -- I definitely expected something a little more rounded and sweet. But this definitely has the proper weight and heft of a proper Champagne. Just a bit of a shame with the racism.

From a magnum. Simply outstanding. Creamy, concentrated yet crisp. Peaches, apples and citrus with almond biscotti scents and flavors. I've been liking Deutz, especially the Amour BdB and rosé, and Cuvée Wm. Deutz. I'd rank them with any prestige cuvée.

Amarillo vivo con poca burbuja visible. Aroma intenso briox y pan calientes, flores blancas, ligeros frutos secos. Boca suave y muy elegante, carbónico escaso y pequeño, sensaciones ligeramente amargas. Final largo con notas de manzana. Excelente champagne

Salon Focofi Paris walkabout and dinner, so no detailed tasting notes. From Jero. Great bottle as well, not far behind the stellar 2007 Cuvee William Jero. Very fragrant nose, rich and forthcoming, elegant finish.

A really nice vintage for the Amour BdB. A magnum brought to a nice local restaurant. Less dense than I expected for an ‘09, but elegant and alluring. Creamy lemon and peaches, faint honeysuckle, bread baking in the distance. Enjoyed equally by the champagne enthusiasts and champagne newcomers at the table, as well as the waitstaff and chef with whom we shared it. I loved it enough to seek out some more bottles.

This gorgeous champagne impressed by elegance, freshness, harmony, fruit and some flowery notes. I expected a little more power, so we emptied the bottle before starting our langoustine-caviar dish because this champagne would not be able to resist these tastes. In conclusion, a fantastic aperitif champagne.

Rather tasty. A light nose of white flowers and a hint of apple. The palate is balanced and surprisingly understated for the vintage with notes of flowers, mint and crisp green apple. Good length.

Very nice. Biright acidity, fresh orchard fruit in the backround, honey and brioche more predominant. Pnp, would have liked to see what happens with air but this was a 375 and gone in about 5 minutes!!
PNP into Riedel Champagne flute (“Leaf” day): Bright medium lemon with tiny bubbles.
Aromatic with fresh citrus fruits and orchard fruits like just ripe golden apples. Nice bouquet of biscuits and white florals as well. Cool yet quite rich.
Fine mousse, bright acidity, off dry (in any case appears to have quite a good amount of dosage?). Consistent flavours with nose. Very soft and elegant in a good way. Clean and nicely detailed finish. Already enjoyable and will probably pair with any food.
93-94 points. I have not tasted enough off dry Champagne (or Champagne outright) but I can imagine this might just be a little too “la vie en rose” for some people.

1st Class HKG -> LAX. Tiny bubbles, what’s to hate? Can get whisps of ripe fruit on the pour. Lovely. Toasted Pear and almonds on the nose. Love the low acid and balanced fruit in the entry. So easy to drink. Not so full bodied and ripe, the fruit is very laid back. Salinity and bubbly frothy palate. Been apple, puckering yumminess.

Cream soda, toasted almonds, and hazelnut. Smooth, crisp and elegant. Long finish. But it was too sweet for my taste.
