Impeccable cork. Definite garnet although still clear and brilliant. Poured straight from the bottle - 5th bottle out of a 6 case and there is no benefit to decanting this wine in my experience. Nose is a heady peach initially before settling back into a more raw meat/ blood base. Plenty of dark bramble and sour cherry on the palate with some secondary hazelnut, iron and even dark chocolate. Tannins are well resolved and very fine. Nice finish but a little abrupt? Good wine - not a worldie for sure, and perhaps not one to be keeping more than a couple of years hence.

Interesting comments before: there seems to be a pattern of underperformance, and I agree that it was slightly muted. Is this a function of the vintage, or possibly of the Chapoutier house style? Clearly good Cote Rotie, but lacking pzazz. I would love to compare with other vintages of the wine. Or perhaps it needs more time....?

Very good indeed, but not quite the barnstorming blockbuster I expected. Still complex and meaty, but a bit brooding - perhaps going through a quiet-ish phase?

Very aromatic, smoky and meaty, and shows development on palate. Still feels quite tannic and a touch bitter and lacks a bit a wow factor in comparison with Chapoutier’s 2007 La Mordoree I tried relatively recently.

Delicate, elegant. Savoury with a hint of bacon, but no big hit of funk. Then some smooth fruit, slight hint of herbs and pepper, more on the stem side than spice, and closes out with fine delicate tannins. Really nicely balanced. If there's a criticism, it's that it doesn't exceed expectations, it's just right. Very competent.

Consumed after 8 hour decant. Long story as to why it was 8 hours. Didn't need that long; 2-3 would have been sufficient to open this up. Meaty nose, with hints of red berries. Silky on the tongue, with the palate showing currants and cherries. Showing a bit young, but really quite nice.

Deilig vin til "kalkunrestegryte" med en litt kraftig saus, mandelpotetmos og grønnsaker. Dekantert i to timer før middagen. Mykt anslag og midtparti med fast litt tørr avslutning. Fast og fin syrah med godt tilstedeværende tannin og veldig fin friskhet. Absolutt en vin etter min smak.

Nose: First thing I noted was the freshness of the nose, soft dark fruit with some meat notes. Taste: Predominantly a very concentrated and full bodied Syrah with a great purity of fruit. Still rather young, would love to see how this develops.

Perfectly fine, but not an absolute belter like the previous two bottles of this. Perhaps suffered from the weight of expectation?

Parret godt med hjortesteken, fått en god og rund frukt. Er nok på topp nå, og trenger dekantering.

delicious - certainly fully mature and very cote-rotie, wonderful but may not be to everyone's taste

Meaty, slight undertow of blackcurrant, resolved in glass but weightier than professional reviews would have had me believe.

God til andebryst, fløtepoteter, blomkålpurre og rødvinssaus. Må ha et litt tyngre måltid som følge. Kan fortsatt ligge noen år for å utvikle seg mer.
